Leighton's POV
—————

"Leighton! Wake up!" I hear as I slowly awaken from my sleep, finding Ginny and Zenobia standing before me.

"I'm awake - where's Dawn?" I ask, stretching in my bed.

Zenobia and Ginny exchange glances and giggle. "She's out for a walk with Seamus. Remember how she mentioned they began exchanging letters over the summer?"

My expression brightens. "I completely forgot!"

"I'm just glad Dawn found someone who's right for her. They'd be perfect together," Ginny says, using her wand to summon my uniform to me.

I swiftly head to the bathroom to change into my uniform and brush my teeth. Afterward, I use magic to style my hair and apply my makeup.

After finishing my routine, Ginny, Zenobia, and I make our way down to the Great Hall to join Luna.

"Hey Luna!" we all call out, walking over to the Gryffindor table.

We engage in small talk while seated next to Dean, Hermione, Ron, Harry, and Neville.

"I'm going to go sit with Cleo for a while before Potions," I announce, rising from my seat.

"Don't remind me about Potions with Slytherin," Neville replies, sulking on the bench.

————

Upon reaching Cleo's table, Pansy moves aside, positioning me directly across from Riddle.

"Merlin, can't you just piss off and sit at Gryffindors table?" Riddle says, scoffing at me.

The entire group falls silent, their gazes fixed on me and Riddle, waiting for my reaction.

"That's rich coming from you, Riddle. You should piss off and pull your wand out of your ass," I say sharply.

I swiftly separate from the Slytherin table and storm out of the Great Hall toward the Astronomy Tower.

Arriving at the Astronomy Tower, tears escape me uncontrollably. Everything around me seems to remind me of him—my ex.

The way Riddle speaks to me, his gaze, it's eerily reminiscent. The disdain in his tone as he ridicules me feels like a haunting echo of my ex-boyfriend, here to torment me once more.

And the most frustrating part? He's friends with my sister. It feels like I'll never be able to fully escape Riddle. Everywhere I turn, there's someone who reminds me of my ex.

I retrieve a cigarette and lighter from my book bag, quickly lighting it.

I put out my cigarette and dab at my eyes with my sleeves again, hoping my tear-streaked face is somewhat less noticeable.

I inhale, and exhale. Everything will be alright.
