"What's so important about this book!?" You held it close to your body as you ran as fast as possible. "I won't let them have it! This is my family's keepsake!"

Your chasers were catching up soon to you; you ignored the tiredness of your muscles and pushed yourself even faster. You accidentally tripped on a rock, but why does that matter when you can ignore the wound? Your life's at stake. You are getting chased by men with knives in their hands.

"She went that way!" One of the men yelled.

I'm so screwed! They're going to catch up!

Your eyes widen seeing a cave. You thought maybe you could finally hide from them. Beads of sweat were already dripping down your face; you felt your legs could give into you at any time.

My legs... I can't feel it. Come on, don't give up now!

You sat down on the cave's ground and tried to catch your breath, breathing in huge chunks of air until it hurt your chest and head. After a few minutes, you looked around the cave. You kept wondering who those men were. What was so important about this book? You decided not to think about it and wanted to look at where you ended up.

Woah! This cave is so beautiful that it's even filled with crystals! It's like out of fictional writing!

Your eyes wandered around this magical cave. Before you finally opened up the book out of curiosity. Maybe it can provide you with the answer to why it was so important to those people.

"Demon Slayers?" You read out in interest, "H-huh? W-what's happening? Is this where my life ends? This forbidden book, I should've not touched it."

You saw parts of your body disappearing slowly; each disappeared part was replaced with a white translucent light. Your sight slowly plunged into darkness.

"Argh. My head hurts." You groaned as you massaged your forehead with your index and thumb fingers.

"Oh, you're finally awake!" A young female voice chimed in. "I am Kona Hiru. You can just call me Hiru!" She introduced herself as she put down a bowl for you.

"I am L/n Y/n. Nice to meet you. Is this your house?" You asked, feeling bewildered.

"Yes, this is my house. Do you have a place to live?"

"I don't have a place to live... but I am not a freeloader! So please let me stay!" You said it in desperation.

Hiru laughed and felt happy having someone to live with. "How old are you? You look young. I'm 16 this year!" She asked.

"I'm 13 years old. I hope to not disappoint you in the future." You bowed before being stopped by Hiru. "Ah, don't do that. Now we're living in the same house, we're a family! Come on, eat first. You look like you had it tough. Back home and your clothes....so modern. Whatever, eat up!"

You ate your meal and chatted with her every day, watching how she got by every day. You learnt that she was a farmer who plants fruits for a living; you slowly learnt from her how to farm. At first, you could not use the tools properly because, despite being able to carry them, you could not fully utilise them. Two weeks later, you can swing the scythe at full swings, though it comes with the consequences of sore arms.

"I told you not to overexert yourself!" Hiru scolded you as she poked your head. "Now look, your arms are all sore. This is actually stupid."

"Sorry... but now I'm stronger! I can swing more to help you harvest in one go!" You cried out.

"Haiz, you're hopeless." She sighed and crossed her arm. Silence filled the room before she continued, "Y/n, can I ask why you always carry that face?" She asked with a worried tone.
