Derek

I had been awake for a few hours while Amber was snuggled up next to me sleeping soundly. However I was worried about her wanted to try to attend school today. I was worried that either her parents or sister would try to do something. I looked at the alarm clock and saw that her alarm would go off in an hour to get ready for school. I didn't want to let her go. She stirred and I felt a hand touch my cheek.

"Derek," I looked down and found a half awake Amber, "what's wrong?"

"I'm okay, sweetheart." She seemed to be more awake instantly.

I could see in her eyes that she was worried, "I'm not stupid, Derek. I can feel your concern. You're worried that even with all these precautions it won't be enough to keep me safe while I'm at school. I understand your fear, Derek. I fear the same things, but I won't be unprepared. I'll be okay, I promise."

I could see the fear in her eyes, but I could also see the will to live her life. To not let her family be the reason she doesn't get to do what she wants to. I smiled at her and she smiled back at me.

"Promise me you'll be careful." Amber nodded and kissed my cheek.

"I'll be careful Derek. I promise I won't take any unnecessary risks." I nodded feeling a little better.

"Do you want to get up and start getting ready? You have to be up here in an hour anyway." She shook her head.

"No. I'll stay here with you until my alarm goes off." She scooted closer and snuggled up against my chest.

1 Hour Later

Amber

I was up ready for the day before everyone else and was in the kitchen cooking breakfast. I was a little nervous about going back to school, but I knew I needed to. I dished up a plate for everyone. I started dishing up mine when I felt a shiver up my spine. I set my plate down and turned around towards the front door. I felt an intense hatred coming from it. I took a step towards it and then froze as someone knocked on the door. Everything inside me was screaming not to go to that so I wasn't going to that door. I turned back towards my plate on the counter and tried to focus. The second knock was louder and it felt like my skin began to crawl.

"Amber," I looked up and saw Noah, "sweetheart are you okay?"

The final knock was a pounding on the door and everything sounded muted. He came over to me and took the plate from my hands. I didn't register him taking the plate before he  set it on the counter and guided me to a chair.

"Open this door!" I flinched at the sound of that voice.

It was my mother. My mother was pounding at the door.

Why the hell was she here? What did she want with me? How did she even know this was where I was.

"Dad?" It was Stiles, but I couldn't say anything.

Everything was muddled except for her anger bleeding through the door. I could also feel Noah's concern for me, but I couldn't focus on what was being said.

"Why are her eyes changing color?" I shot up and away from Noah as my mother's anger turned into a murderous rage.

"Open this door right now! I know you're in there Amber! Open this door right now!" I backed away and then I felt arms wrap around me from behind.

"I'm right here Amber. You're safe, sweetie. She can't hurt you." Derek turned me around and pulled me close.

My face was pressed against his chest and his scent was all I could smell. My head began to hurt as all the emotions around me started to become too much.

"Please, make her go away. Please?" I didn't want to see my mother.

Noah

"Please, make her go away. Please?" The fear in Amber's voice pissed me off.

I went to the door and yanked it open, "you better get your ass off my doorstep before I have your ass arrested for violating the restraining order and order of protection your daughter has against you. I suggest you leave. This is the only warning you get."

Amber's mom looked shocked and then she seemed to become even more angry.

"You can't do this! She is my daughter! I have every right to be around her and bring her home." I prevented her from coming in.

"No you don't, and you know exactly why. So get off my property or I will arrest you for trespassing." She looked furious.

"She is my daughter and I don't care what she said. I never laid a hand on her. She's lying and she is coming home with me now." She tried to slip in under my arm.

I grabbed a hold of her and slammed her against the frame of the door. I put her hands behind her back and cuffed her even though she was struggling. I glanced in Amber's direction and saw her in Derek's arms. Her eyes were flickering between red and an almost a black color.

"I'm going to make sure you come back home, Amber! You will not be allowed to live as a monster!" I watched as Amber fell to her knees.

"Stiles," he looked at me, "get my gun from the safe and if anyone else comes for her you shoot them. Do you understand me?"

He nodded and I dragged Amber's mother out of the house knowing that it was the only way for Derek to be able to get through to Amber.
