And yeah....happy reading

"Chan, do you remember when we used to build those sandcastles on the beach?" Felix's question hung in the air, a nostalgic thread from their past.

They sat side by side on the porch of the beach house they had rented for the weekend, the warm glow of the setting sun casting long shadows over the wooden planks. The crash of the waves below them was a soothing lullaby that had serenaded their friendship for years.

"Yeah," Chan murmured, a soft smile playing on his lips as he took a sip of his beer. "Those were simpler times."

Felix nodded, his gaze fixed on the horizon where the sky was a blend of fiery orange and deep purple. He took a deep breath, filling his lungs with the salty sea air. "You know," he began, his voice a little unsteady, "I've been thinking about those days a lot."

Chan turned to look at him, his eyes searching. "What about them?"

Felix took another sip of his drink, his throat dry. "Remember how we promised to always protect each other?"

Chan's smile grew wistful, those beautiful dimples on full display. "Of course. Like that time the bigger kids tried to steal our buckets."

Felix chuckled, the memory easing some of the tension that had been building. "You charged at them like a little knight with a plastic shovel."

He acted out how Chan went after them, making the older man laugh uncontrollably.

"And you," Chan said, nudging him playfully, "you were the sneaky one, distracting them with your sandballs."

Felix grinned, but his smile quickly faded.

He took a deep breath and turned to face Chan. "I need to tell you something."

Chan could feel the weight of the moment, his heart beating a little faster. "What is it?"

Felix leaned in, his eyes locking onto Chan's. "I've been in love with you for as long as I can remember." The words hung in the air like the last note of a poignant melody, resonating with a mix of vulnerability and hope.

He figured he'd just throw it out there. No beating around the bush.

Chan's hand froze mid-sip, the cold liquid trickling down his chin. His eyes widened in surprise, his mind racing to process what he had just heard. For a moment, the only sound was the rhythmic pulse of the waves below them.

"Felix," he finally managed to say, setting his beer down gently. "What are you talking about?"

Felix's gaze didn't waver. "You heard me, Chan. I'm in love with you." His voice was low but clear, the alcohol having loosened the knot of fear that had kept his confession at bay for so long.

Chan felt the color drain from his face. He had never seen this side of Felix, never anticipated these words. He took a deep breath, trying to gather his thoughts. "Lix," he began, his voice a shaky whisper, "I don't know what to say."

Felix's eyes searched his, looking for any hint of reciprocation. "You don't have to say anything right now," he said, his voice gentle. "I just wanted you to know."

The silence that followed was thick with unspoken emotions. The waves seemed to hold their breath, the seagulls' cries the only sound piercing the quiet. Chan felt his chest tighten, a cocktail of shock and confusion swirling in his gut. He had always thought of Felix as his best friend, his confidant, his rock. But love? The concept was foreign, yet somehow not entirely unexpected.
