Chapter 21: Preliminaries

Lana POV

After Iruka Sensei explained everything were all lined up, and when I mean all I mean all the people that passed. What happened when we walked through the door? Well we opened both scrolls Iruka was summoned to us and told us we passed and the questions we had. And now we're here.

All of our Sensei's, examiners, and the freaking Hokage was here lined up in front of us. I looked around to see who passed and it was all of the rookies, Kabuto's team, Gaara's team, Neji's team and the jerk sound ninja's.

"First of all congratulations on passing the second exam."

Then it was quiet no one said anything, mostly all of us were looking around to see the competition, but I had a feeling we were gonna fight, I smirked to myself 'Alright 22 people left and it's an even number! Lucky me.' I thought but I was quickly snapped out of them when Anko yelled.

"Alright listen up! Lord Hokage is going to explain the third exam to you."

Then the old man stood forward and cleared his throat.

"First before I tell you what the third exam starts I want to explain something about the test itself."

Then the whole damn thing turned into a lecture, I sighed 'Man a whole 5 days in a forest for a lecture.' Then I started to get annoyed and some of my blood list spilled out.

"I want....no I need to fight."

"Alright now listen I will be telling you about the third exam-."

He was cut off when a sickly looking ninja bowed in front of him.

"Lord Hokage before you do please allow me, Hayate Gekko appointed as proctor of the third exam to speak first."

"so be it."

Then he turned around "It's nice to meet you all, there's something I would like all of you to do before the third exam-." Then he started coughing like crazy I was grossed out a little "Uh we have to have a preliminary round before the real one."

Then everyone in the room started to freak out and started yelling I covered my ears and glared "SHUT THE HELL UP!" Then I glared at the sick guy "and you I don't care who I gotta fight but out of my curiosity why are we having a preliminary I don't see the reason for that." I said then he started to cough "Uhh well you see the first and second exam might've been too easy, and we never expected so much people to pass. According to the rules a preliminary round can be held at any stage to reduce the number of candidates remaining. Anyways if any of you don't feel on top physical condition now is the time to back out." He said no body said anything, but then Sasuke grunted in pain I turned and looked at him "Sasuke...." I mumbled then Sakura looked at him "Sasuke listen to me you gotta quit. You've been like this since you got tangled with Orochimaru." I nodded "Sasuke please don't push yourself we're worried about you." Then Sakura started crying I rolled my eyes 'Sure you can be worried but not that worried.'

"Please Sasuke quit now before- I don't know what but I'm scared."

"Shut up Sakura."

"No I'm going to tell them about the mark."

The someone raised his hand we looked over to see who it was, and it was Kabuto. Then he started to walk out "Hey Kabuto what are you doing!?!?" Naruto yelled and Kabuto stopped and turned to Naruto "Sorry Naruto but my body can't take it." He said the turned back and walked away 'Hmm? 21 applicants left? It's an odd number I wonder how we're gonna do this.'
