Chapter 07 : Drawing Forbidden Memories
≿ · ┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈ · ≾The Eight Warriors waited as guards led Vera off to the jail cells. Some members were discussing with the guards, and others were discussing amongst themselves.
Meanwhile, Suyin stood vacantly. Suyin had been chained to an endless spiral of her memory. The cultist wearing the pure white gloves yet menacing black veil mystified Suyin like an impossible puzzle. The light flowing from their fingers seemed so surreal. Light manipulators weren't as rare as some others but weren't familiar amongst folk.
How didn't her team see the cultist from the interrogation room's window? Didn't they at least witness the great white light striking the air like an arrow? Was Suyin losing her mind?
What disturbed her most was how they were the same cultist who appeared in her visions at the queen's castle during the night. Just like before, everyone thought she was 'seeing things.'
"Suyin." Sunoo tapped her shoulder. "Are you okay?... You seem out of it again."
"Yes, I'm fine. I'm sorry," Suyin said, rubbing her wrist.
Sunoo frowned and retracted his hand. "I'm positive there wasn't another cultist back there. Like some of the others said, it was most likely eye irritation due to all that smoke we were in for so long," Sunoo reassured.
Suyin nodded her head despite the disbelief lingering in her chest. When the door opened, Jungwon stepped out. Suyin noticed the slight strain he attempted to keep behind a stern face, but his roaming eyes gave it away.
"Let's return home. There's nothing else for us to take care of here," Jungwon stated. His voice sounded void of its usual steady and clear tone.
"Are the guards fine?" Suyin asked as she followed up to him.
"They aren't injured," Jungwon replied, and he slowed his steps. His back faced her. "Suyin, what were you thinking?"
The air thickened over Suyin's chest. "I really didn't try to hurt the guards," Suyin said.
Jay scoffed and tilted his head. "Then why would you run after the guard like that?"
"I thought he was a cultist," Suyin reasoned.
"She really is seeing things," Jay chuckled wryly from the side.
"No, I'm being serious...it was a cultist in their signature black robes, except they wore white gloves and accents throughout their attire," Suyin explained, and she gulped as the boys only seemed more lost in her words. "I wasn't trying to hurt anyone today, but I needed to keep everyone safe–"
Jungwon turned around and revealed his stony expression. "You didn't keep everyone safe," Jungwon pointed out. By the look of his unblinking stare and rigid shoulders, Suyin wanted to stay quiet.
