Were the smiles genuine enough or were they born out of the cowardice of humanity? Were they creating weapons against raptures or against themselves? I couldn't find an answer as I stood in the aftermath of the nuclear detonations. In my bloodied state constantly keeping myself up through my hypocrisy.
I dragged my wounded body and reached ground zero of the nuclear detonations. All that remained was a barren, empty land. I felt an unbearable sadness when I witnessed that landscape. There were still people living there and they were the ones who had saved me.
The people who saved me were Nikkes who were deployed to protect a supply line leading to the Ark. When I had woken up they stood up asking if there would be any reinforcements from the government I couldn't answer knowing that I opposed the government and the allied forces "Your Pixy right? One of the pilots that had defected from allied forces?" One of them asked "Yes." I said preparing for the worst "You were lucky we found you while we were out on patrol." The Nikke handed him a new pair of drabs "They aren't coming back to find you all." I said confusing the three Nikkes "W-What?" A Nikke holding a shotgun was taken back
"They aren't coming back, the frontline is collapsing and they're evacuating citizens into the Ark. They aren't prioritizing your safety. If it were me I'd abandon my orders and try to survive, hell I'm not even sure if the Belkan remnants remain. We're living in a new world with no borders, raptures, decay, and eventually no civilization." I said as the Nikkes looked at each other "It can't be true right?" The Nikke holding an smg clung to a false hope "It's okay we'll make it through this together." An older Nikke that held onto a rifle comforted her companion
"So then what do we do?" The Nikke with a shotgun sat down on a chair sighing "..." The Nikke with the rifle assumingly was team leader couldn't answer her "If you don't know what to do then why don't you girls just go somewhere far from here?" I suggested "I don't want to leave." The Nikke with the rifle said "I want to stay and fight even if it costs my life. It's our home, I don't plan on abandoning it" The Nikke with the rifle said causing Pixy to smile sadly "So we're staying?" The smaller Nikke asked "We're headed towards the Ark." The Older Nikke said
"Well then happy trails." I said tiredly falling back onto the comfort of a bed before falling asleep "If we're really going to do this then... what about him?" The Nikke with the shotgun asked "I don't plan on leaving him here. Not like how they did." The Older Nikke said balling her fist "We'll wait until he's recovered then we'll leave." The Older Nikke said
After a few days of recovery, I had gained the Nikke's trust and they had appointed me as their Commander even if I never had prior leading experiences it's something I wouldn't regret even to this day "Not trying to be rude but why is he our commander?" The Nikke with a shotgun asked "I guess I'm more comfortable with the fact we have a commander even if he isn't really one" The Older Nikke giggled "Sure, it's not like you're developing a crush on the guy~" The Nikke with the shotgun teased causing the Older Nikke to blush "W-Well he has been helpful in gathering and cooking." The Older Nikke said
"Are you looking for a husband? Wow look at that our team leader has the hots for our commander~" The Nikke with the shotgun teased causing the Older Nikke to blush brighter "Hey you two. I just finished packing we should be able to get a head start before the sun starts to set... what are you two talking about?" Pixy asked curiously "Hehe. Nothing just talking about our leader's crush is all." The Shotgun Nikke said as she walked past Pixy "See ya leader." The Shotgun Nikke said as the Older Nikke turned around taking the time to compose herself before approaching Pixy
"How long will it take before we get to the Ark?" The Older Nikke asked "I think 5 to 10 days but that depends on if we run into a firefight between the central government and Belkan remnants that would cause a detour or Raptures that would cause us to waste some time." Pixy answered "I see. Then I will get my things then, see you in a bit commander." The Older Nikke smiled
