Vince Luca Moretti's mansion was an imposing structure, nestled in the hills overlooking the city. Its grandeur and sheer size were a stark contrast to the cramped apartment Lila had known for the past months. Vince ensured that Lila was taken to the mansion, providing her with a secure and serene environment where she could begin to heal.
Lila stood at the entrance, feeling overwhelmed by the sheer scale of the place. Vince, sensing her hesitation, placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "You're safe here, Lila. Take all the time you need."
The mansion's staff had been instructed to treat Lila with the utmost respect and care. Vince led her to a beautifully furnished bedroom, its large windows offering a breathtaking view of the gardens below. The bed was inviting, and the room exuded warmth and comfort. Lila, still in a daze, managed a small nod of thanks before collapsing onto the bed, exhausted.
Days turned into weeks, and slowly, Lila began to emerge from her shell. The initial days were the hardest. She would wake up screaming from nightmares, her body drenched in sweat. Vince, despite his busy schedule, made it a point to be there for her. He would sit by her bed, talking to her in soothing tones until she calmed down. His presence was a constant reminder that she was no longer alone.
After another nightmare had shaken Lila awake, Vince rushed to her side. He gently took her hand in his, his voice calm and reassuring.
"Lila, it's just a dream," he murmured softly. "You're safe here."
She clung to his hand, her voice trembling. "I... I keep seeing his face, Vince. I can't get rid of it."
Vince's expression hardened for a moment, then softened as he brushed a strand of hair from her face. "I know, but he's gone. He can't hurt you anymore. I promise."
The next day, Vince came home early from work, a rare occurrence that surprised the staff. He found Lila in the garden, sitting on a bench, staring into space. He approached her quietly and sat down beside her.
"Lila," he said gently, "how are you feeling today?"
She looked up at him, her eyes filled with gratitude and lingering sadness. "Better, I think. It's just... hard."
Vince nodded, understanding. "It will take time. But I'm here for you. We all are."

One evening, Vince found Lila in the library, her fingers tracing the spines of the books on the shelves. "I didn't know you liked to read," he remarked, a soft smile playing on his lips.
Lila looked up, a hint of a smile appearing on her face. "I used to. It was a way to escape when things got too tough."
"You're welcome to any book here," Vince said, stepping closer. "This library is yours."
Lila's eyes met his, and for a moment, she saw the man behind the mafia persona. He wasn't just a ruthless leader; he was a man who cared deeply, who had his own demons to fight. "Thank you, Vince," she whispered, the sincerity in her voice unmistakable.
Over time, Vince began to open up about his past.
They sat in the mansion's cozy living room, a fire crackling in the hearth. Vince took a deep breath, the flickering flames casting shadows on his chiseled features. "I lost my sister to a man like Ethan," he began, his voice tinged with pain. "She was abused, manipulated, and eventually, she couldn't take it anymore. She ended her life, and I vowed never to let something like that happen to anyone else."
Lila listened intently, her heart aching for Vince. She reached out, placing a comforting hand on his arm. "I'm so sorry, Vince. I can't imagine what that must have been like for you."
