The morning sun filtered through the curtains, casting a warm glow across the hospital room. Vince lay in bed, his body still weak but his spirit stronger than ever. He turned his head to see Lila sitting beside him, her eyes filled with a blend of exhaustion and relief. She had been by his side every day, a constant source of strength and love.

"Good morning," Vince said softly, his voice still raspy from the ordeal.

Lila's face lit up with a smile. "Good morning. How are you feeling?"

"Better," he replied, squeezing her hand. "Thanks to you."

She leaned in, kissing his forehead. "You scared me, Vince. I thought I was going to lose you."

Vince shook his head, his eyes filled with determination. "I'm not going anywhere, Lila. I have too much to live for."

Lila's eyes shimmered with unshed tears. "I have something to tell you," she said, her voice trembling with emotion.

Vince looked at her curiously. "What is it?"

Lila took a deep breath, trying to steady herself. "Vince, I'm pregnant."

For a moment, Vince stared at her, his mind processing the words. Then, a smile spread across his face, pure joy radiating from his eyes. "You're pregnant?" he repeated, his voice filled with wonder.

Lila nodded, tears of happiness streaming down her face. "Yes, Vince. We're going to have a baby."

Vince reached out, pulling her into a gentle embrace. "This is the best news I could ever imagine," he whispered. "A new life, a fresh start. For both of us."

They held each other, savoring the moment, their hearts beating in unison. The darkness of their past was behind them, and a bright future lay ahead.

A few weeks later, Vince was discharged from the hospital. He still needed time to fully recover, but with Lila by his side, he felt stronger every day. They returned to Vince's mansion, a place that had once been filled with tension and danger but now felt like a safe haven.

As they walked through the grand hallways, hand in hand, Vince glanced at Lila, a smile tugging at his lips. "You know, we need to make some changes around here."

Lila raised an eyebrow. "Oh? What kind of changes?"

"Well," Vince said thoughtfully, "this place has always been a fortress, a place to keep out threats. But now, I want it to be a home. A place where we can build a future together, filled with love and happiness."

Lila's heart swelled with love for him. "I like the sound of that," she said, squeezing his hand. "What do you have in mind?"

Vince led her to a large, sunlit room with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the garden. "This room," he said, gesturing around, "could be a nursery. Our child's first room."

Lila looked around, imagining the space filled with toys and laughter. "It's perfect," she said, tears of joy filling her eyes.

Vince pulled her close, kissing her softly. "We're going to give our child the best life possible, Lila. I promise."
