Meet Mother

On the outskirts of town, a shop was a brick wall covered in black vines with graffiti and signs that had warning signs on them to keep intruders away. The sound of drilling and gunshots occurred with targets being plowed by weapons that left nothing behind and vehicles being fixed that had problems, mainly with the transmissions. A man with bulky arms walked with heavy boots that made the ground shake with his steps as they approached the co-worker, "Hey boss. You think you can take a look at this?" said the bulky man.

"What you got?"

"Another mother and child taken from the household—it's a girl too, sir," said the minion, saluting the boss as they stopped at a car where a mechanic was cranking a bolt.

"Hey, slide out from under that car and show some respect," the boss demanded as he kicked the scooter.

The employee calmed their attitude as they obeyed the instruction, and out came a woman with a smirk, "You know, Uncle, one day I'm going to kick your ass in front of everyone in here to show who's superior," said the feminine mechanic.

The boss chuckles as he hugs Korena and rubs her on the back. "How are you, my Red Dove?"

"Dirty. I'm covered in grease and dirt, but that's the best part of being in this shop." She smiles as she rubs the dirt off her suit, smearing the grease on her protective work suit. Uncle moves his head upwards to walk to his office, and his face is serious as he makes the motion. Following behind, the bodyguards opened the doors for them as if they were just them. "You seem agitated, Uncle. Everything alright?" Korena asked about this.

"It's been three months already, and more wives and little girls are still going missing without a trace of evidence." With a heavy sigh, Uncle said, sitting at his desk with the missing people forms, "No matter how much we search for clues, we just go back to where we started," as he rubbed his eyes with frustration.

"Hey. what if I--"

"No. I won't allow you to go on this mission. It's too dangerous for you to go alone."

"But I won't be. I know I can be helpful to you and your crew if you just--"

"I said No, Korena! And that's final!" Uncle shouts as he slams his hands on the table, causing the glass to rumble from the vibrations. Korena frowns at his words, and she nods. He realizes what he did and feels guilty about his actions. "I'm sorry, sweetie. I won't lose you like I did with your mother," he said as a knock occurred.

"Apologies, sir, but there is someone here looking for someone," said the secondhand man. Uncle nods as he stands up and walks to the doors. Before reaching the entrance, he pets Korena's head, caring more for her safety than anything else. He leaves with a defeated and broken heart for the sight that Korena gave him. He knows she can help in the field, but he won't make the same mistake he made those years ago.

Never again will he lose someone he loves.

Korena ensured the coast was clear and looked at the missing reports behind the desk. Mothers who are covered in blood and beaten and children who have scratches and bruises on their faces make the sight anger Korena. For someone who does this for fun, it is disgusting and sick to her stomach. The sound of broken glass broke out of Korena's concentration as it hit the office windows. Curiosity got to her as she saw a formed group circle with fists, cheering her Uncle on a glimpse of white, but not entirely.

She ran down the stairs as she got through the crowd. A familiar voice hit her ears as she shoved her way through faster. "Is that all you got?" said Uncle aggressively.

"I'm sure I've got more in store for you since I'm not the one out of breath," the voice laughs and smirks at the boss. Korena makes her way to the front as she sees Uncle get thrown on the ground and hit his side. The unknown man wears a white top hat with a good snake, apple, and black heel boots. "Now. Let me ask you again. Do you know who I am?"
