Curry bread and money laundering

The smile never went off Mei's lips as she heard the beeps. The cashier was actually one of the shady men earlier. Who was now looking at her weirdly.

I mean honestly, who wouldn't suspect this Mama's little bakery is owned by two buffed brothers who obviously doesn't even know a thing about baking? People are stupid.

"Here you go," The man handed her  the paper bag and her change.

She stops and looked down on the bill he just gave. Mei turned to the man with a serious look, she felt the paper.

"Did you just give me a fake money?" She ask in disbelief. What she didn't expect is how the look on the man's eyes seemed like he already anticipated her to figure that out.

"So you know your money huh," Mei crossed her arms. Where exactly is this going?

"Excuse me?" The man turned away and opens the drawer under the register, he then showed her a 10,000 bill. A very familiar one.

"Recognize this?" He ask.

Mei only stood back and didn't utter a word. It was her design. That counterfeit money was made by her, no other people could have that similar print and the right colors considering she never entrusted anyone to know her method in making those money.

"Akari right? You're quite famous. The names Gege by the way."

Mei sharply exhaled. "What do you want?"

The man puts down the bill and looks at her dead in the eye. "The plates you used on these, how much for it?"

The girl shakes her head with a bitter smile. "It's not for sale, and I never share my recipe."

"50,000 yen." He offered.

"You trynna' make me laugh?"

"100,000." Mei went silent for a moment, calculating her options.

At this point the money she has on her can get them through at least a month, but it won't be enough. Sure she has a job in the cafe, but that'll only covers the expense for the rent. What about the other expenses like food, emergency savings?

This job is risky, but it pays really well. She knew that from experience. Selling the plates would be a one time pay and nothing more, and if they had the design then they can continue making counterfeit money for as long as they want. If she's gonna do this, she'll need to play her cards right.

"I'll do it for you, but I want a cut." Mei spoke seriously, making him raise a brow.

"How much do you want?"

"50%."
