In between Chapter 01

„And that's what happened."  Epel said he finished explaining what had happened.
Ace and Deuce just stare at him and then at each other and then back at him.

„Two murders?!" They exclaimed. „And the police just let you leave?" Deuce asked in disbelief.
„Yes!" Epel said loudly. „I was like I'm not an expert but I don't think this how it's done? Like shouldn't they have taken me with them for more questioning?"

„Yeah, that's probably what they should've done and the fact they didn't is so strange." Ace said, before he paused for a moment. „Especially when you told them that you apparently got kidnapped to work at some gas station. Like that sounds so bizarre that no sane person would believe. So that story should have made them suspicious of you."
„I know right?" Epel said while shaking his head. „But anyways you guys also didn't seem to have had a flawless night shift at the gas station... no offense but you guys look like shit right now."
Deuce scoffed and Ace rolled his eyes. „Ge.. thanks."
„Always." Epel said. „No seriously though what happened?"

„Well it was quite similar to your experience but still very different." Deuce stated explaining. „We like you woke up at the gas station with no memory of how or why we got there. Thought we didn't wake up inside the gas station like you, we woke up outside."
Epel noded along to what Deuce was saying to show that he was listening.
„We then spoke for a minute or so. We like you the noticed that we still had our phones but no connection. Then we made our way to inside the gas stati-" Deuce gets cut off by Ace.
„OH my seven! Deuce I just realized! We didn't notice until that our magic pens were missing!"
Epel blinked a few times.

„How Did you guys not notice that?!" He exclaimed.
„To be fair to us we were still not fully recovered from whatever knocked us out. (And definitely not because the dumb author forgot to write that part-)" Ace argued.
„So was I and I still noticed." Epel argued back. „You two seriously have like one brain cell that you two share when you are together."

„Hey that's not true."
„Yeah!" Ace agreed with Deuce.
Epel rolled his eyes. „Yeah... sure. Anyways back to what happened. You guys went inside the gas station and then?"

After a moment of silence Ace decided to continue talking. „Well when we walked into the gas station, unlike you we weren't alone an employee was there. He said we apparently worked there and we were like no we don't and he was like yeah you do and then left. And then we found a very similar letter to what you found that was like ‚if you want to get back you'll have to work at this gas station' but unlike you we didn't just have to deal with the customers, we also had to do side tasks-"

„And when he says ‚we' he means ‚I'." Deuce interrupted. „Because Ace dealt with the customers while I did the side tasks like cleaning and stocking up the shelves."

„So you guys split up the work? That's good." Epel said almost sounding surprised.

„Yeah but Ace got lucky we where planning on switching so that I would be the one dealing with the customers and Ace would have had to do the bathroom cleaning.... But we got knocked out before it could come to that."

„Wait... knock out?!" Epel exclaimed.

Deuce nodded. „Yeah some guy appeared behind us and knocked both of us out."

„Well... That explains why both of you have a bump on your heads-"

„Oh my Seven!" Ace suddenly exclaimed. „Deuce do you think that the weird guy is the same guy that knocked us out?"
„I don't think so...?"

„Wait what weird guy?" Epel questioned.

„Oh there was this weird guy that asked me if I was working alone and was acting all weird and stuff." Ace explained.
„Yes but the guy that knocked us was taller that the weird guy." Deuce added.

Epel nodded taking in the information. „And what happened after you guys were knocked out?"

„We woke up in this bus." Deuce simply said.
„Yeah and just a few minutes later we saw you from afar." Ace added.
Epel nodded again.

A few moments of silence passed by.

„Why is this all so strange? How did this even happen? And why us three?" Epel questioned.
Deuce just shrugged. „I wish I knew."

„Epel..." Ace suddenly said.
Both Epel and Deuce turned their heads to look at Ace.
„Yes?" Epel said.
„You are going to have to update your last question to ‚why us four?'."
