6 months since you went away

I've been rummaging through my entire closet for something to wear, but nothing catches my eye.

It's come to mind that I certainly need new clothes. Most of the things in my wardrobe are from the past year that I've worn over and over again, which I'm happy no one seemed to notice, and I'm starting to get tired of the same old shit.

I scurry down the stairs and into the kitchen where my mother is at, talking on the phone.

She argues, "Yes, yes alright. They'll be there for dinner this weekend. No, I would not like to join but thank you. Alright."

She hangs up the phone and brushes her brown bangs to the side to wipe the sweat from her forehead, "Geez, your father is quite the chatter especially when he expects something from me."

I shake my head while laughing, "Is that why you divorced him?" I sit on the counter as she brings her dirty pot to the sink.

"Ha ha, very funny May.." Her eyes roll and she leans on the kitchen sink.

"It is quite funny, actually. Was he chatting too much when you both picked out my name when I was born because I was definitely not born in May." We both chuckle.

"Oh gosh, not this again." I earn another eye roll from her, "Alright what do you want and why are you in my kitchen?" She raises her eyebrows at me.

"Can I borrow the car to go to the mall? I need new clothes before the concert." I swing my legs back and forth, pleadingly.

"Yeah, sure. Just make sure it doesn't run out of gas like the last time, alright?"

"Yes ma'am." I jump off the counter and salute my mom as I walk out of the kitchen to grab the car keys off of the hanger by the front door. I grab my purse, phone, and sunglasses before I head out the door, and into our black mini van.

I blast the AC once I get into the car and immediately start the car, and turn on the radio. I was previously listening to my 5 Seconds of Summer CD in here, so it left off on Long Way Home.

"Take me back to the middle of nowhere, back to the place only you and I shall remember all the memories, the fireflies and make believes!" I sing along with the CD for the whole entire ride to the nearest shopping center, and head into the shops.

The first place I head into is Forever 21.

I end up buying a few high waisted shorts, a maroon crop top, and a black and white striped crop top.

I decided to head into Claire's to find a new nose ring since mine was repeatedly worn for a few months now, and I needed a change.

As I was purchasing my new nose ring (almost identical to the one I had now, but had a stud at one end), I heard a group of girls squealing next to the album rack.

"Are you going to their concert next week?" One of the girls exclaimed.

"Of course! I got VIP too!"

So did I, I thought.

Once I was finally done shopping and mingling with a few people I knew from school, I headed back home since I was exhausted from all the walking around and talking.

I opened the front door to my house and dropped all of my bags on the floor. I plopped down onto the floor as well to remove my combat boots off my feet.

"Ugh why did I wear these when it's like a hundred degrees outside?!" I complain, vaguely to myself.

"Because you're an idiot." Someone replies at the top of the stairs.
