Haerin stood there in silence until Jay finally broke the awkward stillness. "so.. Will you be my girlfriend...?" he hesitantly asked.

Haerin responded with a shrug, her expression nonchalant. "I'm not interested," she replied. Her answer clearly caught him off guard.

Jay chuckled awkwardly and raised an eyebrow, his ego clearly bruised by Haerin's lack of interest. "How can you resist me? I mean, I'm so handsome and-"

Before Jay could continue boasting, Danielle interjected, "She said no, and no means no." Danielle's firm tone and directness clearly shut down any chance of Jay persuading Haerin otherwise.

Jay gave Danielle a questioning look, tilting his head slightly. "What does this have to do with you?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.

"because she's my girl-.. Friend.." A hint of embarrassment flashed across Danielle's face as she almost referred to Haerin as her girlfriend. "Because she's my... friend..." Danielle quickly corrected herself, her cheeks blushing lightly. The almost slip-up had clearly flustered her.

Jay exhaled in frustration, his irritation dissolving as he tried to maintain his confidence. "She'll fall for me one day," he mumbled quietly to himself, and with that, he turned and walked away, leaving Haerin and Danielle standing together in his absence.

Haerin continued walking alongside Danielle, paying no mind to Jay's comment. Danielle's expression still betrayed hints of jealousy, and Haerin picked up on it. "Are you upset?" Haerin inquired, noticing Danielle's demeanor.

Danielle shook her head in response, indicating that she wasn't upset, but Haerin could tell that she was lying. Despite Danielle's denial, Haerin didn't believe her, but she chose not to press the matter further for the time being.

Hours had passed since they entered the abandoned building, and the sun was beginning to set, casting a darkening sky over them. "We should probably go now," Danielle said, rising to her feet. However, before she could take a step, Haerin firmly grabbed her wrist, causing her to lose her balance and land awkwardly on top of Haerin.

Haerin and Danielle found themselves frozen in that unexpected position, their faces mere inches apart. Neither dared to move, and an awkward silence filled the air. They could feel each other's breath on their faces, and time seemed to stand still for that brief moment.

Haerin's face turned a scarlet shade of red, a rush of heat spreading across her cheeks. Danielle's face also turned red, but her blush paled in comparison to Haerin's intense flush.

Haerin struggled to string together a coherent thought, stuttering and stammering, stumbling over her words. She tried to speak, but the words wouldn't come out, leaving her flustered and tongue-tied.
