Since thursday, im feeling a lot better. I can move freely without pain, my skin is still a bit irritated but it isn't as bad. I woke up to my phone ringing, looking at the time, it was 2am. I saw the caller ID and it was Leon so I knew it had to be important, he always texted me.
I answer, "Leon, what's up?"
"My mom, she's in the hospital."
"What happened?" I ask getting up.
"She's started coughing up blood. I don't know she just told me to call an ambulance and they took her back to a room. Nobody has said anything yet, i'm scared."
"What hospital? I'm on my way." I damn near tripped trying to put my shoes on. Leon told me what hospital and I hung up. I went to Fatima's room to tell her I was leaving just in case i'd be gone by the time she woke up.
At the hospital, I went into the emergency room and found Leon sitting in the waiting area. I sat next to him, "Hey, i'm here. They still haven't said anything?" I ask him.
"No," He responded with his voice shaky. I stood up and went up to the station. "Excuse me, my name is Zac. I was looking for an update on Lena Harris."
"One second," The lady pulled out a tablet and tapped a few times. "Lena Harris, they're currently running tests but i'll let her doctor know to come with an update as soon as possible."
"Thank you." I sat back down next to Leon. I finally noticed he wasn't in anything but a tank top, shorts, and socks. "You ran out of the house with no good clothes on?" I ask him unzipping my jacket.
"No." He answers. I gave him my jacket, "They're running tests, the doctor will be out soon enough."
"I can't lose my mom. I already lost my sister, i can't lose her too." He says. I stay silent, not wanting to say he won't lose her because I don't know the entire situation. Also, i'm in shock because Leon never mentioned a sister.
"She's all I have left." Leon whispered. "We're going to wait for the doctor to tell us something, we can't jump the gun." I tell him.
We sat, waiting for a while. I didn't know how much time had passed befoe I heard a man call out, "Family of Harris?" He asked looking up from the tablet in his hand. Weirdy, this man looked oddly familiar. Like way too familiar, but I brushed it off.
Both Leon and I stood up greeting him, "Hi, i'm Dr. T. We ran some tests on Ms. Harris and she has a bad case of pneumonia. She's going to be fine, but we're going to keep her for a week, maybe more until I feel as though she's ready to go home."
"Okay thank you Doc. Is there anyway we can see her?"
"Yes you can, i'll get you two some masks. I recommend limiting physical contact." He asks the nurses for some masks and hands them to us. We follow him to a room.
He opened a room door, "If yall have any questions, i'll be down the hall." He told us, I nod, and we went in.
"Hey son, hey Zac." Lena said.
"Mom are you okay?"Leon asked. "I'm fine baby boy. Don't worry."
"Mom, I have to worry."
"No you don't, we're going to be good. Just keep praying baby, we'll be okay."
I was confused so I just stayed by the door quietly.
"I'm going to be fine. I just need to get better. How about you let Zac take you home?"
