"Woah, Rain this is awesome." Sig says, for once not teasing Rain.
The others agree. Rain beams, he knows they could be just being nice, but he thinks he did a good job on the project as well. Their assignment had been to build a model of an environmentally friendly house using things like solar panels and natural cooling systems. It had been a hard assignment that required a lot of research, even the model itself had taken a lot of time. P'Phayu had suggested a few books and websites he could research, but other than that Rain had done it all on his own.
Someone places an arm over his shoulder and says, "Rain, amazing, I would say he is average at best."
Rain jumps at this and almost drops his model. It's only a quick-thinking Sky that manages to save it.
Rain shrugs the arm off. He knows that voice too well, but all his friends look at the newcomer in confusion.
"Yun-Seo, why are you here?" Rain asks. "How did you even find me?"
"I came to Thailand with my father on business, and I couldn't leave without seeing my old friend so I called Ji-an and she told me where you had transferred to." Yun-Seo says. Rain frowns he thought Ji-an was his friend, that's the only reason he had told her what university he was going to in Thailand.
"Since when were we friends?" Rain asks.
"Oh, Rain, don't be like that. We were so close before. I thought we could catch up while I was here." Yun-Seo smirks at this, making it obvious to everyone around them what he means by close.
Sky eyes widen suddenly, and Rain knows he's just realized who this is. The others still look confused, but Rain isn't about to introduce this man to them.
"Excuse me," he says, "I need to go turn in my project."
Rain is busy with classes for the rest of the day. He hopes by the time he is ready to leave Yun-Seo is gone. However, the man is still waiting outside the faculty, watching the freshman as they leave.
Rain tries to skirt around him, but Yun-Seo grabs his arm.
Rain tries to shake him off, but the man grips him so hard that Rain is sure to have bruises there tomorrow.
"Let me go," Rain hisses.
Yun-Seo leans in and whispers, "Come on, Rain. You know I can show you a good time. It's not many people who I give a second chance too. We could have fun together."
"Go to hell." Rain growls back.
"Fine," Yun-Seo says, "If you are going to be that way." He raises his voice to where the crowd can hear it. "You little tramp, I bet your friends don't know half of what you got up to in Korea. How you basically sold yourself to get favors from the seniors."
Rain goes pale, that's not true. He glances at the shocked faces around him. Several people are whispering to each other and even his friends look stunned. Rain wants to tell them that it's not true, he never did that, but the words won't seem to come. He manages to free his arm from Yun-Seo and stumbles through the crowd to the parking lot.
Rain's not sure how he manages to get home, but to his relief his parents aren't there yet. He drops his bag onto the floor of his bedroom and crawls into bed, pulling the cover up over his head. That's when the tears he's holding back begin to fall.
Sometime later his mother comes in to check on him, he's not sure how long she's been home.
"Rain, are you alright?" She asks.
"I think I might be coming down with something." He murmurs.
She lays a hand on his head, "You don't feel like you have a fever."
