| 3rd POV|

REYNA, MI AMOR, CARMEN, DE CARA MÍA, LANA, SÁNCHEZ is currently knocking on the door of her stepbrother's apartment. Schneider. Schneider opened the door to see her stepsister, Reyna, with her brown curly hair gently laid down on her shoulders, her orange backpack on her left shoulder and her suitcase in her right hand. "Hola mi pequeño," translating to, 'hi my little one.' "Your Spanish is still terrible. But I'll give you a C- for effort."

Schneider smiled and gave Reyna a big hug. Reyna smiled and hugged him back. She hasn't seen him since the funeral. "How about you set your things down in your room, un-pack later, then we can go and eat dinner," Schneider said as he grabbed Reyna's green suitcase from her hands and welcomed her in to his apartment.

His apartment was huge and fancy. Nothing like the apartment Reyna and her papi lived in. "Nice apartment by the way," Reyna complimented. "Thank you, let me show you your room." Reyna followed Schneider to her new room. Reyna's room was furnished with a big queen sized bed, a makeup vanity, a big walk in closet, and a nice couch.

"You didn't have to do this," Reyna voice shivered in awe. "But I wanted to though," Schneider said, "you deserve it. After- erm, I mean-" Schneider started to stutter. "You can say his name, he's not Voldy moldy," Reyna said as Schneider nodded. "Well, do you remember the mother I was telling you about, Penelope?" Reyna nodded. "Yeah, you talked about her all the time."

"Well, when I talked about you moving here, she invited us for dinner." Reyna's eyes widened. "But I'm not dressed, I haven't put on any makeup yet." Reyna said in worry.

"Aren't you twelve?"

"Thirteen in December, Don't change the subject...Schneider, you know I get anxious meeting new people."

"I know, but I'll think you'll like them. Especially Lydia, she reminds me of your mother."

Reyna never knew her mother. She only heard stories from her father and her stepbrother. She never got to meet her, nor she will never meet her again. She got deported to the Philippines, never to be seen again.

"Really?" Schneider nodded. "I think it's good for you to meet them." Reyna sighed and nodded. "Fine, but let me get changed into something else at least. I don't want them to think I'm a hobo." Schneider nodded and closed Reyna's door behind him.

|Reyna's POV|

After put on a casual outfit and brushed my hair, i decided to put a little bit of mascara and lipgloss. I stood up from my little chair vanity and looked at myself in the mirror. I fixed some of my baby hairs that were sticking out. I have on a large Arctic Monkeys shirt, and a pair of flare ripped jeans. I then heard a knock on my door.

"Hey, you ready?"

"Yeah, just one minute."

I grabbed my phone then opened the door. "Let's go." We walked out of the apartment and went one story up to the next level. "You ready to meet the Alvarez's?" Schneider asked as I fidgeted with the ends of my shirt. "Yeah, just nervous that's all." I admitted. "Don't worry, they'll love you." Schneider wrapped his arm around me in reassurance.

The elevator door opened. We kept walking till we finally made it to the apartment. Schneider was about to open the door, but I stopped him. "Wait, shouldn't we knock first?" I asked. "That's not necessary," I was about to say something, but gotten cut off by him opening the door.

"Hey guys."

"Hola Schneider." I saw an older woman with a thick accent and red lipstick. "You must be Reyna. Tell me, are you Cuban?" She asked me. I smiled and nodded. "I'm half Filipina and half Cuban." I said as the grandmother looked pleased. "Papito, I found you a new girl for you to marry." The grandmother yelled as she went to find her grandson.

I then land eyes on a woman with beautiful curly hair and a blue top blouse. "Hi Reyna, I'm Penelope. I'm sorry about my mother. She's just really excited to meet you. Take a seat on the couch, come meet my kids. ELENA, ALEX!!" I sat down on the couch while Schneider followed Penelope to the kitchen. I started to play with my ring on my finger.

"Alex, Elena, this is Reyna," the grandmother said as he introduced Alex and Elena to me. I gave a little uncomfortable wave. Alex sat next to me on the right, and Elena sat next to me on the left.

"Hey, so abulita told me you're half Cuban and half Filipina."

"Can you speak Spanish?" Alex said. I turned my head to him and said,

"sí. tú?" (Yes, you?)

"Desde que nací. mi hermana...no." (Since I was born. My sister...nah.)

"I know enough Spanish to hear what you just said." Elena said as I smiled a bit. "I lost my Spanish." I nodded and understood what she was saying. "I almost lost my Tagalog, but if it wasn't for my father, I wouldn't have been able to speak it." Alex scrunched his nose in confusion. "What is Tagalog?" Alex asked me. "Tagalog is a language most known in the Philippines." I said as Alex nodded.

"So, how are you related to him?" Alex pointed to Schneider. Schneider turned to us looking hurt and assaulted. "She's my step-step-stepsister. But we just call each other step siblings." Schneider said as I rolled my eyes. "We're step siblings. Schneider is taking me in temporarily. Mi abuelo me acoge." (My grandpa is taking me in.)

"Oh, she can speak Spanish!" The grandmother said. I let out a little chuckle. "I speak Spanish and Tagalog." I said to the grandmother. The grandmother looked over to her daughter and gave her a thumbs up. She  then whispered, "I like her."
