Selfish

The sound of the water running from the tap echoed throughout the bathroom. Inessa's gaze fixed on her reflection, as she watched her father's blood being washed away down the drain.

Each time she submerged her hands and rubbed her skin under the running water, her thoughts flooded her mind.

Her hands became increasingly forceful, desperate to scrub away every trace of blood. Her skin turned raw and red from the relentless scrubbing. In the mirror, she examined her face, her father's staring back at her.

The door swung open as Armando stormed in and slammed it staring at Inessa, covered in blood.

"Qué diablos estabas pensando" (what the hell were you thinking) he yelled as he stared directly at her, "not now Arma-" she huffed in frustration, tired and drained unable to deal with him.

"No, eres egoísta, you put me in danger, the team and yourself" (you are selfish) he interrupted, striding toward her. "We were supposed to arrest him," he continued to yell as they faced each other in the mirror.

"No, you were supposed to arrest him!" She turned around, jabbing her finger at his chest, giving him a slight shove backward."I was never going to put him in cuffs".

"Pusiste en peligro a todos por tu propio egoísmo" (you jeopardised everyone for your own selfishness) he yelled, stepping back, pushing her against the sink, standing his ground.

"egoísta, you really think he would've stopped" (selfish) she huffed as she looked down putting her head in her hands, "Eres realmente tan estúpida" (are you really that stupid) she looked up into his eyes.

"It's not for you to decide" Armando finished as he sat down next to her on the edge of the bathroom counter.

"We both know he would've just gotten out and killed more people, forgive me for wanting to stop him before he could ruin anymore lives" Inessa stood up and grabbed the first aid kit tending to her wounds.

Armando moved to speak, but she cut him off. "Forget it, Armando. I can't deal with this."

Armando stood up and walked out the door.
