A cold breeze loomed over Aquileia. The tenebrous, gloomy clouds hinting at a storm above the village. But the sound of the churning sea echoed across town. For today would be remembered for history to come. But downtown, in the local Ludus Litterarius: A well known school, neighboring the caius district, across the classroom floor, Aeliana struck. The beloved teacher, rich in knowledge was gone. The schools prime educator, deceased. A reed calamus clasped in her hand and a flask of soot ink splattered partly on her blonde hair, now stained a deep black. It soaked her linen dress. on the stone tile floor, the ink sat, seeping into the seams, and the spillways of the valleys running between the cold to touch slabs, an ink river. Something or someone has slaughtered her, but who? And why? Lucius was enraged. This was his hire; A teacher that had been a member for around a decade, just gone. In a blink of a eye. He needed to get behind the mystery, seek vengeance for his worker. The children, sat firmly stuck to their seats, eyes filled of horror, is this a joke? It must be. But alas, this was now reality.
