The ink flask sat motionless on Lucius' table. He stared at it intently, observing the ripples of smooth liquid within, akin to the sea on a summer's day. Yet, he dared not touch it, for within that dome might lie the very cause of his predicament. His attention drifted to the window, eyes roaming the view through the slightly yellow tinted glass, where the town church towered above the landscape. The church bells swayed, sending their resonant peals to every corner of the town. Many sought the sanctuary to worship, pray, and confess their sins. Perhaps he, too, needed a drop of hope.

With resolve, he ventured outside, navigating the rain streams that coursed through the streets. He paused before the grand door, taking in the intricate designs lining the church walls and the various gargoyles that fended off evil while channeling water through their spouts. He entered, awestruck by the majestic sight within. Several people knelt on velvety prayer benches, while others listened intently to the priest's verses.

Suddenly, someone collided with Lucius, sending him crashing to the floor.

"I do repent! Henceforth, I must hearken to my path! Pray, Lucius, dost thou tarry? Ah, I seek thy counsel if thou couldst spare a moment."
(„I'm so sorry! In the future I will pay more attention to where I'm walking! Wait, Lucius, is that you? Ah, I've been wanting to talk to you, if you could spear a moment.")
The man who had knocked him down had black hair and eyes like the ocean. He extended a hand, and Lucius took it, rising to his feet.

Lucius brushed the dust from his trousers, then looked at the man. "Ah, Vince! Thou hast caught me unawares. Most fortuitously, I do find a moment to squander."

"Lead the way, Lucius." Vince chuckled, patting Lucius on the back and motioning for him to follow. Slowly, they walked away together.
