Chapter - 33

In the parliament

Every ministers were sitting on their own respective seats. The speaker was sitting above all as he led the assembly.

The national assembly was coming to an end when Minister of Justice Mr. Huang Jin stood up catching everyone's attention.

"Honorable Speaker, I want to propose that we should legalize the same gender relationships in our country." Jin said making others shock.

"Mr. Huang, are you out of your mind?" The President said.

"No, President. I am proposing this in clear mind." Jin said.

"I object it." Minister of Revenue said.

"Whoever are opposing this proposal, please raise your hand." The Speaker said and the majority ministers raised their hands.

Xiao Zhan who was also present in the assembly gritted his teeth when he noticed that most of the ministers are against the proposal. He glanced at Wang Jili who was sitting beside him. When Jili felt Zhan's gaze on him, he nodded his head and turned to the front.

"Why are you opposing it without any thoughts?" Jili said.

"Because it's ridiculous." Defend Minister said.

"I think it's a good proposal." Zhan said.

"Yeah, I also think it's a good idea." Jili said.

"And why do you two think so, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Xiao Zhan and Minister of Industry and Information Technology, Wang Jili?" The Speaker asked curiously.

"Currently many people are turning out to be gay or lesbian or even bi sexual. When they start a relationship with the same gender people, they leave the country. They either settled in European or American countries. But mostly they settled in Taiwan which is originally belongs to China." Zhan said and paused as he stared at others who were focused on his speech.

"We always want to reclaim Taiwan and to do that first we have to get support from the people who live there. But because of our opposition to the same gender relationships, our own people go there and become their citizen. Then please tell me, will they corporate with us? They will never. So, we should fix our problem first so that our people don't go to Taiwan and support their government. If we can't fix this problem then it will be hard for us to reclaim Taiwan. That's why I think we should approve same gender relationships." Zhan said and some of the ministers nodded their heads in understanding.

"Minister Xiao Zhan is right." Jin said.

"The people who left the country because of the same gender relationships issues are mostly rich. Well, if they wouldn't be rich then they couldn't leave the country. Besides, middle class families are afraid of society, even if they come out to be gay or lesbian, they hide it because of being look down by the society. They couldn't leave the country because of financial problems. So, most of the rich people leave the country and settle in another country. This way, we are losing our people as well as our money. It is affecting our economy. Our people are leaving us and working in another country. They are contributing in other countries economy, not our economy. If we solve this problem then people not only stay in the country but also contribute in our economy." Jili said.

"Both Minister Xiao Zhan and Minister Wang Jili are right. So, I am supporting them." The Vice President, Xiao Lin said and Zhan nodded at his father.

After Zhan and Jili's speech, some of the ministers supported them but others were not ready to give in.

"Now, I am asking. Who are supporting the proposal of legalizing the same gender relationships?" The Speaker asked and whoever supported this proposal raised their hands.
