❛ it reminded me of you ❜

ᵣₑₐₗ ₗᵢfₑ !

Mikayla and chris walk hand-in-hand through the school corridors, his blue blazer hanging on her shoulders. they stroll at a sluggish pace so that they can waste time, not sure if it's the best choice to publicly show any affection.

the first couple of buttons on his polo shirt are unbuttoned, his yellow tie loosely hanging around his neck while they listen to the music echoing through the corridor.

mikayla can't really explain how she feels right now in words, assuming that the smile that hasn't left her face for a while is enough. she looks up at him, noticing how he's already looking at her with a grin.

"you're always staring at me, chris," mikayla comments through a smile, referring to every single time she's caught him staring.

chris just shrugs in response, moving his head to face forward. "that's right," he mumbles with a grin.

they slowly find their way to the entrance of the dance, pausing in their steps quickly. miks looks up at him momentarily, letting go of his hand. "we can't..." she gestures between them, "you know."

chris pushes his lips into a thin line but he understandably nods his head, taking the wet blazer off of mikayla's shoulders. "but nate's not gonna be at home tomorrow. did you wanna come over?" she questions with a small smirk.

"crazy if you think i'm saying no to that," chris replies and mikayla immediately chuckles, pulling him into a quick hug, then pulling away.

even if they have to secretly show each other any sort of affection to prevent nathan from finding out, she's just glad that they're back to talking instead of ignoring each other. it may be hard, but mikayla's willing to do whatever as long as she can keep spending time with chris.

Rays of sunshine slide through mikayla's blinds, casting a yellow glow over her bedroom. she peeks out from under her blanket, trying to adjust to the sudden beams of light by squinting her eyes. after she re-entered the dance last night—chris following her a couple moments later to not seem suspicious—she had a much better time with the thought of the honest conversation they had as well as the kiss in the rain.
