"I can't believe he did that. He ran out and he left me. Again. I thought he'd changed but it was... it was a lie. All of it. How could I have been so stupid?" Garfield asks sadly as the group is in cages at the pound.

"Garfield you're not stupid." Alexis says as she looks at Garfield sympathetically.

"Oh yeah? Then why did I fall for it huh? I knew this would happen and I let it happen." Garfield says angrily.

"You didn't let it happen. You wanted a relationship with your father. You wanted to believe the best in him. There's nothing wrong with that." Alexis says.

"And how would you know? Huh? Your parents are dead. You don't know how I feel because of what Vic did." Garfield says as Alexis pins her ears back.

"You're right. I don't. But I know what it's like to feel hurt by someone you trust. To feel like you can't get the family you want back. How do you think I feel with Jinx. I never wanted to stay with her after I got old enough to fend for myself but I didn't have a choice. If there's one thing your father was right about it's that you don't belong out here pet. So go home first chance you have. You have no idea about the lives of others out here. Your father did get that right. And I was wrong too. For thinking you were any different from any other so called pet." Alexis says angrily as Garfield gives a soft expression.

"Alexis I..." Garfield says sadly.

"Save it. Once the pound calls your owner you'll go home and I'll bust out and go back to my lonely life as usual. Just leave me be Garfield." Alexis says as she turns away from Garfield and sighs.

"Don't beat yourself up kid. Vic man we've all been burned by Vic." A Blue cat says.

"Yeah that's right. Burned every cat I know." All the cats say.

"Oh yeah the one thing about Vic you can count on is that you can't count on him." A green cat says.

"Tell me about it." Garfield says sourly.

"Yeah. I'll tell you about it. Long story short we all used to run in a pack until we had to kick him out the crew." The blue cat says.

"Like I said couldn't count on him." The green cat says.

"Sounds about right." Garfield says.

"He'd leave in the middle of a job just to go see his kid." A lavender cat says.

"Yeah he said he wanted to check up on him. Make sure he was doing okay." The blue cat says.

"But get this he'd never actually visit. He'd just sit across the street from his kid's house in a giant oak tree." The green cat says.

"That never happened." Garfield says as he scoffs.

"He'd watch that kid eat... and eat and eat..." The green cat says.

"He put a notch in the bark... Every time he was there." The lavender cat says.

"Yeah. Sure he did." Garfield says.

"He'd go every Sunday night rain or shine. Said that it was his kid's..." The green cat says.

"Family dinner night." All the cats say.
