It is the year 130 AC and King Viserys I Targaryen died a year ago. Queen Rhaenyra was crowned queen a fortnight after her father died meanwhile her husband Daemon Targaryen stands by her side as king consort. The year went by fairly quickly but the people of King's landing were still mourning their late king, honoring him with prayers whispered to the gods. The queen felt the sorrow of her people all the way into the Red Keep where she sat the Iron throne. She felt the need to do something, to make sure her people were content. She had to keep them happy, since she was the first queen the realm had ever known and wanted to be remembered as a good one. After countless small council meetings it was decided that the best form of acting would be to celebrate something, to forget the grief. Her Hand, Rhaenys Targaryen, suggested that Rhaenyra finally married her sons off to her grandchildren. They were already engaged after all and now was the perfect time to do so. Jacaerys Velaryen would marry Baela Targaryen and shortly after that, Jace's younger brother Lucerys would marry Baela's twin, Rhaena. The first wedding, known as the Grand Wedding took place not even a fortnight later, and seven days after that it was Luke and rhaena's turn. The realm was delighted and praised the pares, wished them good fortune and more. Both parties seem to be happy as well, and so did queen Rhaenyra and king Daemon Targaryen. Months passed and just as the other problem settled, another arose. Dowager queen Alicent Hightower, late wife of Viserys, grew restless. She was tired of the constant disrespect, given to her, her children and her house. She still believed that Aegon should be king since he's the first son born to late king Viserys, even though Aegon himself was recorded to have said he didn't want the Throne. It was not where his interest lay.

Ever since Rhaenyra became queen, Alicent lost the power she once had.

On a tragic night, in the freshly new year of 131 AC, Helaena Targaryen, second child of Alicent and Viserys, died after she gave birth to her son Maelor, who died seconds later in her arms. She was married to her younger brother Aemond and together they had 2 children, Jaehaerys and Jaehaera, born as twins.

The loss shocked the realm and thousands attended her funeral. Aemond wasn't present, just as Alicent. They were simply too heartbroken. Helaena Targaryen was burned by her dragon Dreamfyre, like a true Targaryen. After the funeral, Alicent walked to the great hall and fell to her knees in front of Rhaenyra. She weeped right then and there, on the steps in front of the throne, for her only daughter and her grandson, seeking sympathy.

Rhaenyra felt her pain, as she had once felt the same when she lost her only daughter in childbirth.

-'Tell me what I can do to ease your pain Alicent.'

Not even two seconds later she answered.

-'Marry Aegon to your daughter. Ease my pain with the union of our children. Restore my son's honor by making him heir again. Only that would ease my pain a bit.'

Even though Alicent loved her daughter, she took advantage of the situation and Rhaenyra's good heart. Rhaenyra agreed to the plea but asked to keep it quiet until she talked to her daughter. Alicent agreed and wiped the tears from her eyes.

Rhaenyra was hesitant to tell her daughter about the proposal because she knew how estranged her and Alicent's children had been with each other. The fault lay not with the children but with her and Alicent. Perhaps it was time to change that. With this she had given Alicent a gift, a gift that was most precious to her. Her only daughter. Aelys Velaryon, twin of Jacaerys, was born mere minutes before Jace, which makes her heir to the Iron Throne. She is a well spoken but argumentative girl who loves to voice her opinions. But she has a good heart and is always kind to everyone she meets, except  if it's a man that thinks women are less capable than men. She is very close with her brothers but mostly her twin, and she loves to fight them with a sword. She can almost beat Jace with one, but Luke is a lesser challenge for her, and she makes sure he knows it. It is well known that Aelys gets her way alot and sometimes when she doesn't, she will let you know just how unfair it is.

This time was no different.

She yelled at Rhaenyra when she first mentioned the proposal to her, it was only when her mother threatened to name Jace as her heir that she complied. The announcement was made and so the realm forgot about Helaena and little Maegor for a little while.

The wedding was to be held in the dragonpit with her dragon Vermithor as witness, just as Sunfyre would be Aegon's. It was less than a fortnight away until they would wed.
