She sits at a bar alone and stares at her drink. Something heavy weighs on her like sadness. The year so far has been a constant up and down. When she moved to Boston she adapted quickly and found her place in the new team. She found great friends and fell in love with Regina Mills, who surprisingly enough, felt the same about her. Felt.

Emma loved this new chapter of her life until Lily, her vengeful ex, swooped in and took everything from her.

So she did the most reasonable – and at the same time the most hurtful thing (for her) – and ended things with Regina. She provided some lame excuse; something about being not good enough for her and Henry. And that she’d eventually drag her down. In some way it’s the truth, Emma had thought. Because what kind of mess has she brought on?

Regina had been so pissed and mad at her. Rightly so. Kathryn had barged into her apartment and confronted her about it. But Emma couldn’t tell her.

Because she’d put Kathryn right in the middle and she wouldn’t want to burden Regina and her friendship.

Emma is just about to leave her apartment, to see a doctor because of the gunshot wound, when she runs into Regina in the entrance hall of her apartment building. The brunette looked pissed.

“Emma, why have you been ghosting me?”

The blonde hasn’t been answering her phone calls or answering her texts for almost 5 days now. And Regina hates it with passion. She’s worried.

“I’m sorry Regina,” Emma provides lamely. “It’s just…I don’t think we should see each other anymore. You deserve much better and I just bring chaos.”

Regina feels her heart crack and does her best not to cry. “Why would you say that?”

“It doesn’t matter.” Emma shrugs and leaves.

Now Emma is partnered with August, because Regina stormed into David’s office the next day and demanded the change. It hurt Emma, but she understood and maybe it’s for the best. Because she doesn’t know what Lily is capable of. Especially since she called her old boss and learned that he did not tell Lily anything, except that she’s working for Boston PD.

Therefore, Lily is shrewd and knows her way around.

Emma doesn’t know how far the crypto case is since it’s Regina’s case, and she works it now with Graham.

It takes a lot to swallow her jealousy, because he gets to work with her. Nothing against the man personally, but at this stage, Emma would envy anybody who spends time with the brunette.

She misses her.

Emma knows what Lily is doing is in some ways illegal and she should press charges. But there is not nearly enough tangible evidence and she knows it would only make things worse.
