The waves of the sea crashed against the rock walls of the cliff below as Isaac leaned against the balcony railing and gazed at the different shades of blue water with a slightly bored expression. He was a skinny man with pale skin and a frail appearance, this was of course most likely because he was kept inside and not allowed to exert himself, for fear he would become more ill then he already was. His bright green eyes scan the cliffs below and he lets out yet another sigh.
"Another boring day." He tilted his head back and closed his eyes. "I wish I could just-""Just what?" He was interrupted by a voice and the sound of boots hitting the stone floor behind him. He whirled around, his eyes snapping open to find, her, a woman he'd never seen before standing just behind him with a cocky smirk on her tanned face. "Well? What was it you were saying young prince?" She asked tilting her head slightly as she examined him. It took Isaac about five seconds to register the question, which he chose to ignore.
"How did you get in here?" He asked narrowing his eyes, no one should be able to get in through the door and the walls and cliff were much too steep and slippery to climb. Not to mention the sea below was way to rough for any kind of ship to survive being tossed around.
"I'm the one asking the questions here little prince." She said crossing her arms and leaning back against the railing, still smirking at him. "So..? What were you about to say?" Isaac huffed, clearly annoyed.
"I was wishing I could go see the world." This was only half the truth. Isaac glared at her. Had this been a "normal" situation Isaac would have countered her remark with one of his own. But he was curious and figured things would go faster if he cooperated "Now answer my questions. Who are you? How did you get here? And what do you want?"
"How rude of me to not introduce myself to the prince." She grinned and took off her hat bowing gracefully. "My name is Thorne Blackbird. I climbed up here."
"That name sounds... Fake." Isaac commented narrowing his eyes. Thorne grinned as she righted herself.
"That's because it is. I'm a pirate captain, can't have anyone knowing my real name can I?" Isaac blinked, it didn't make any sense to him and he was tempted to press further but decided against it. He had more important questions to ask.
"Pirate huh? Why are you here?" He watched as she adjusted her hat.
"Funny you should ask, I'm actually here for you." Isaac's eyes widened slightly in alarm.
"What?! Why?!" He was already backing away reaching towards the dresser where his dagger sat. But "Thorne" didn't seem alarmed.
"Eh... Some king across the sea wants you, my guess is he's either forcing an arranged marriage between you and one of his daughters. Or planning on holding you for ransom." She smirked and approached him. "Honestly you should be grateful, to me at least. I'm getting you out of this tower."
"This is NOT the same thing! I wanted to be free not get kidnapped!" He grabbed his dagger and pointed it at her in warning. "Stay back or else..." Thorne just rolled her eyes and stepped closer, the tip of the dagger now pressing against her neck.
"Come on young prince, don't make this harder than it has to be." Isaac glared at her refusing to back down, he was only slightly shorter than her.
"You will address me as prince Isaac, not young prince." He figured it was ok for him to be snarky after all it looked like they were the same age anyway. Thorne raised her eyebrow and grinned.
"Prince Isaac... Put the dagger down and come with me. Please." Isaac pursed his lips and gripped the dagger tighter. Thorne sighed almost sounding tired and looked at him, a now bored expression on her face. "Last chance Prince, drop it." He was caught slightly off guard by the dark firm tone in her voice a stark contrast to the sassy and cocky one from before.
"I will not, I'm a prince not some child for you to order around." Thorne blinked a flicker of surprise mixed with respect flashing across her face. She grinned her playful demeanor returning.
"Is that so?" She sighed shaking her head in mock surrender. "It really is a shame I have to be so rude in bringing you along... You know, all the other people I've threatened were much bigger than you."
"Hey!" Thorne continued ignoring Isaac's offended outburst.
"And yet, not one of them was as brave as you are being right now. Despite your clear inability to fight." Thorne said eyeing his sloppy stance and skinny frame. "So unfortunately despite the respect you have earned from me..." Without another word Thorne grabbed the blade of his dagger and twisted causing him to lose his grip, she then pointed the blade at his chest and stepped closer. Isaac backed up until his back hit the wall, Thorne pinned him down holding the dagger to his neck. "Now, will you come quietly? Or do I have to tie you up?" Isaac glared at her angrily, but what could he do? He was skinny and small, there was no way he'd stand a chance against her. She looked like she'd spent her entire life building muscle.
"Fine. But I'm not going to let you treat me like crap." Isaac said giving her a firm look.
Thorne only grinned and stepped back giving him his space.
And that is how it all started.
