It's raining...The sound of the piano playing echoes with the sound of the rain pouring outside the window of Lorainne's room.
Her friend is sitting beside her, and before she could finish the song she's playing, her friend stood up to stare at the rain outside.
"Isn't the rain looks so calming? It's calmness invites me to go outside and play with the flowers and trees." She said.
Lorainne stops from playing the piano to look at her friend.
"Flowers and trees? How are they connected to the rain?" She asked curiously.
"The rain made them dance beautifully." Her friend answered with a smile on her face.
"Well, obviously, it's the wind that's making them dance, not the rain."
"I know that, but they look more beautiful when the rain joins them."
Lorainne didn't get what she means, but she just agreed anyway.
"You know what? I think we should go outside and play in the rain. It's fun swimming on the lake while the rain is pouring! Do you want to join me?"
Lorraine pouted.
"No, I don't. I still need to practice playing this piece more. You should go alone if you want. I'll stay here and continue to practice. The festival is tomorrow and I want to do my best."
"You really love playing the piano so much, don't you?"
"I love it more than my life, Jia. How about you? Don't you love playing your violin?"
Her friend, Jia, remained silent for a minute, but she smiled sweetly before answering her question.
"I love playing the violin... but I'd rather die playing in the rain than to die while playing my violin alone."
Lorainne blinks and suddenly got speechless. She wants to ask why, but she just decided to smile back at her.
"Then go outside and play. Just be careful and don't die just yet, we still need to play for the festival tomorrow."
Jia nodded her head and ready herself to go outside.
Before her friend totally went outside her room, Jia looks at Lorraine once again to ask a final question.
"Don't you really wanna join me?"
That time, Lorraine should've said yes. She should've said that she will come with her and they can just practice playing the piano and violin together, later.
"I'll stay here," but she didn't...
She doesn't know that before that day end—as the sound of the rain had finally came to stop... She will regret choosing those three words forever.
