The return from Danbury Adventure Camp had marked the beginning of summer vacation, and while most students were excited about the break, Jenny found herself struggling. The memories of the camp, Molly's injury, and the ordeal with her lost teddy bear lingered in her mind, making it hard for her to fully relax. The emotional toll of recent events seemed to catch up with her, and she felt more isolated than ever.

It didn't help that Molly, her constant source of support, had been grounded. Molly's parents were strict, and sneaking out with Jenny that night before camp had finally caught up with her. She was confined to her house for two weeks, unable to leave or have friends over.

Jenny tried to distract herself with summer activities, but nothing felt the same without Molly. She missed their late-night talks, their laughter, and the sense of security that came from having her best friend by her side.

One particularly rough day, Jenny sat alone in her room, her mind racing with worries. The anxiety and loneliness felt overwhelming. She reached for her phone, wanting to text Molly but knowing it would only make things harder for both of them.

Just then, her phone buzzed with a message from Molly.

Molly: Hey, I know I'm grounded, but I can still text. How are you holding up?

Jenny's eyes filled with tears of relief. Even though Molly couldn't be there physically, just hearing from her felt like a lifeline.

Jenny: Not great. I really miss you. Everything feels so hard without you here.

Molly: I miss you too, Jen. I'm here for you, even if it's just through text. What's been bothering you the most?

Jenny hesitated, then poured out her heart in a series of messages. She talked about her anxiety, her feelings of isolation, and how much she missed the comfort of having Molly around. She admitted how the memories of the camp incident and the stress of losing and then recovering her teddy bear had left her feeling vulnerable.

Molly responded with understanding and empathy, offering words of encouragement and reassurance. She reminded Jenny of all the times they had overcome challenges together and assured her that this time would be no different.

Molly: You're one of the strongest people I know, Jenny. Remember how we got through the bell tower incident? And how you helped me when my ankle gave out at camp? We can handle anything, even if we have to do it from a distance for a bit.

Jenny smiled through her tears, feeling a bit of her strength returning. Just knowing that Molly believed in her made a world of difference.

Jenny: Thanks, Molly. I don't know what I'd do without you.

Molly: You'll never have to find out. We'll get through this, and once I'm ungrounded, we'll have the best summer ever. Promise.

Over the next few days, Jenny and Molly texted constantly. They shared jokes, stories, and updates on their daily lives. Molly even sent pictures of the books she was reading and the art projects she was working on, trying to stay busy during her grounding. Their connection, even through a screen, gave Jenny the support she needed to start feeling more like herself.

Jenny also decided to talk to her parents about how she was feeling. They were understanding and arranged for her to see a counselor, someone she could talk to face-to-face about her struggles. The counselor helped her develop coping strategies and reminded her of the importance of reaching out to friends and family for support.

By the time Molly's grounding ended, Jenny felt much more stable and hopeful. The first thing they did was plan a day out together. They met at their favorite park, where they spent hours catching up, laughing, and simply enjoying each other's company.

Sitting on a bench, watching the sun set, Jenny turned to Molly. "Thank you for being there for me, even when you couldn't actually be there."

Molly smiled, her eyes warm with affection. "Always, Jenny. No matter what, I'll always be here for you."

As they walked home together, the weight of the past few weeks began to lift. Jenny knew that with Molly by her side, she could face any challenge. Their friendship had been tested, but it had emerged stronger than ever, a testament to their unwavering bond and the power of true support.
