Author's Note- Hey everyone! Thanks for sticking around during my lengthy break from writing and giving this book another chance. I appreciate every single one of you, and thank you so much for hanging around for this long. On a total side note, guess who's going to see the Foo Fighters for the first time in less than two weeks? (hint...its me!)
"Virginia?" One of the managers from the record label questioned, clearly confused by Dave's proposition.
"Yeah. We all take a few months, move in together, and record. It could really be a great opportunity for us to reflect on our work as a band and make the best, most raw album possible. Get away from all of the corporate bullshit and just focus on the music."
His last statement hung in the air like smoke. The band was seated around a conference table with their managers and record label representatives, so for Dave to drop that line certainly wouldn't help his case.
"I'm in." Taylor said abruptly, breaking the silence still hanging in the room.
Dave looked over at him, confused but thankful that his friend would back him up in this situation.
"I think it could be really good for us. It'll be a good opportunity for us to gel as a band and really focus on the music that we want to record." Taylor said, helping his claim.
Everyone in the room looked towards Nate, the final band member who hadn't given his input into the situation.
"I'm in too." He said, quiet but confidently. Nate was always a man of few words, but Eliza appreciated his level headed view on a lot of things that the band dealt with.
All of the executives in the room sighed and looked at each other, clearly stumped on what their next move should be.
The one at the head of the table was the first to speak up, and although Eliza was unsure of his role with the band, he seemed like the one in charge.
"If you all are in, then we're just going to have to trust you. We're going to need to see demos and proof that you're actually working if you are going to make us be as hands off as you're claiming."
Dave let out a sigh of relief, happy that someone would be taking a chance on his ideas.
"Who would be moving in?" Another executive asked.
"The band, our few engineers and producers. And Eliza." Dave said, shooting a glance at her so that everyone would know who he was talking about.
"Your, girlfriend?" An executive asked, obviously confused.
"Yeah, if I'm moving across the country she's going to come with." Dave said, firmly.
"And her role in the band is...?" Someone asked, attempting to be condescending and prove that she really had no place to move in with the band.
"Eliza has been a part of Dave's musical career since long before I knew him. But since I joined the band, I see how she helps us all so much, every single day. We're not going anywhere if she doesn't come with." Taylor said, trying to throw in other opinions other than her boyfriend's.
Eliza tried not to blush from hearing her two best friends defend her so aggressively in front of such important people.
One of the executives sighed. "Fine. I'll approve it. But please, don't embarrass me."
The band shot up and hugged one another, relieved that they got their plan approved. Dave ran over to Eliza and scooped her up, holding her tightly.
She took a deep breath. They were going back to Virginia.
