Dancing

Y/n pov

Do I knock? Should I go away? I just stood there thinking, standing in front of Mirabel's door. Camilo had said we'd meet up after dinner, and here I was, after dinner. According to his mom, he and Mirabel had left right after to continue working on the dress.

Just knock, if he's busy, he'd tell me that we can't do it. It's honestly not that hard. I took a deep breath and-

"Y/n!" Camilo said, having already opened the door before I could knock. "Just in time. Sorry if I was late we could go now!"

"How's the dress going?"

"Alright, they're working on the skirt layers while I'm working on the top."

The moment he stepped into his room, it transformed into a ballroom (one with a bunch of mirrors all over it, but a  ballroom nonetheless).

"Alright, so there are different ways to slowdance, knowing Mariano he'd try to hit a bunch of them. So, let's focus on a few of them. There's that classic ballroom dance, we'll start with that one first. Okay first step, ask me if I want to dance."

"Ask you?"

"Yup, because you have the option of dancing with anyone and you need to ask them if they want to dance with you or not. Here," he said shifting into Mirabel and sitting on a chair that came out of nowhere. "Ask."

I gave a sigh, and walked over to him, "Excuse me, may I have the honor of asking you where Camilo is so that I may dance with him?"

"Huh?"

"Come on Camilo, I'm practicing with you. If I wanted to dance with Mirabel, I would have asked her to teach me, but instead, I am practicing with you, so let me feel like it."

He blinked at me for a second before shifting back into himself, "Alright, Y/n. Ask me."

"Camilo, want to dance?"

"Not going to go all fancy with the 'may I have the honor of dancing with you?' You asked Mira where I was more fancily than you asked me to dance."

I rolled my eyes, "Fine. Camilo, may I have this dance with you?"

"You may." He said, standing up from his seat, which disappeared the moment he did.

"Good job at asking, now let's find a spot that isn't crowded." He looked around at his empty ballroom, "Yup, here should be enough space."

"I would hope so, considering it's an empty ballroom."

"Now, we shouldn't be too close, like a step or two away from each other."

"Which we already are."

"Perfect, now for hand placement. Because you'll be leading the dance, put your right hand on the bottom of my shoulder blade."

"Why am I leading?"

"Because you're taller."

"Your mom's taller than your dad, but he still leads."

"That's because he's the guy."

"I don't get it. Is there a list order or how we decide who leads? First, if it's a guy, second look at height. If it's two guys who are the same height, what's the next requirement to look at?"

"You're making this difficult."

"I need to know why I'm the one leading? Why can't you lead?"

"Because I am teaching you how to lead a dance."

"I guess I can accept that answer." With that I placed my hand on the bottom of his left shoulder blade.

Once he placed his left hand on my shoulder, he used his free hand to hold mine. "We'll extend our arms to the side, not too much though, and hold it at the shortest person's eye level."
