Peter stepped nervously into the library, taking a deep breath in before pushing forward. Today was the first day of tutoring a struggling student, (Y/n), in his best subject: chemistry.Peter was offered the job from his Honors Chemistry teacher, which he tried to refuse, but needed the extra cash for new backpacks since he always misplaces them.Peter wasn't sure if he had seen (Y/n) around and maybe never learned her name, but he was nervous nonetheless to talk to the opposite gender. As he took quiet steps in the school's dusty library, he looked at his phone to see if he got any new texts from this (Y/n)."hey im by the young adults section. last table to the left," (Y/n) had texted Peter two minutes ago."ok see u there," Peter texted back with sweaty fingers. He couldn't even text a female without freaking out (with the exception of his aunt), let alone have an interesting or proper conversation. Peter understood the vast knowledge of the subject of chemistry, but when it came to girls, he was utterly lost.Peter was so wrapped up in meeting (Y/n) to not making a complete fool of himself that he became clueless of his surroundings. He abruptly bumped into someone, knocking them and their collection of papers to the ground. Unfortunately, that spider bite didn't get rid of the clumsiness every 15 year-old male faces."Oh my gosh. I'm so sorry," Peter apologized, putting his phone in his pocket, gazing below at the person he knocked to the ground. He only saw a lowered head filled with (h/c) hair, their hands rubbing the back of their skull for comfort. The stranger had books, binders, and loose papers that now cluttered the slick ground of the library after the collision with a figure that stood in their path."Here, let me help," Peter knelt down to the floor with the stranger, feeling a bit guilty as he bent down to help the victim of his clumsiness. As he gathered the dispersed school supplies that laid on the chilly floor, there were a few things that caught his eye: a Star Wars folder, and Millennium Falcon pencil case."Sorry, I'm such a klutz. Thank you..." the girl's voice rang out, lifting her (e/c) eyes to the embarrassed boy that had bumped into her. She tucked her (h/c) hair behind her ear with anxiousness, gazing at the boy who helped her. When their eyes met, both sophomores instantly blushed and looked away with some self-conscious.Peter, rubbing his arm, quickly observed with a glance the way the mysterious girl's (h/c) moved against her face, her (e/c) eyes that seemed to sparkle, and the way she bit her lip in shyness. He didn't want to seem creepy, so he looked away, now feeling warm around his cheeks."Need any help up?" Peter asked politely, lending his hand out to the mysterious girl. She looked up again at Peter and slightly smirked at his kindness. There weren't many students at Midtown High that offered another student aid when fallen. She would know, she's fallen down one too many times at school."No thanks. I got this," the (h/c)-haired girl responded, lifting herself to her knees. They once again met eye-to-eye, blushing slightly at the awkward situation. The girl's eyes darted to the rest of the library, trying not to look too closely at the cute guy in front of her."You wouldn't happen to be Peter Parker, right?" The mysterious girl asked slyly after she gathered up the courage to ask the adorable, flustered student in front of her."Way to go on your first impressions Peter! You made a fool of yourself in front of the one girl who is literally forced to hang out with you! Could this get any worse?!" Peter mentally kicked himself for being clumsy and awkward with his first impression with (Y/n)."Yeah, sorry again. And-uh... you're-uh, (Y/n)," Peter tried to say in a cool manner, but ended up stuttering over his words. (Y/n) pulled her free right hand from her side, gesturing for a really gawky handshake. Peter gulped with that motion, trying to dry his sweaty hands quickly on his pants before reaching out to the pretty girl's hand. They shook hands for too long, heat radiating and causing them both to perspire, looking at one another for one split second too long.Peter mentally kicked himself again. (Y/n) chuckled politely, unsure of how to act around a fellow Midtown High student. Gripping her books and papers tightly, she hoped he couldn't see through her 'cool' demeanor. She didn't want anyone thinking she was stupid, but she just had a hard time with chemistry. In her defense, she did have a terrible teacher."Cool. So, I already found a spot to study, and I'm ready to start working if you are," (Y/n) stated, pointing to a near by table, gesturing for Peter to follow her, books and papers in hand. Peter grabbed on his backpack strap a little tighter, hoping that the tutoring session wouldn't be as awkward as the first few minutes."Okay um... Do you wanna review y-your homework first?" Peter asked as he sat down at the table, taking out a pencil and a calculator from his backpack, trying to act smooth."Yeah sure," (Y/n) responded, taking out another Star War's item: a pencil that resembled Luke's light saber."So... Star Wars fan...?" Peter reluctantly questioned. (Y/n)'s eyes lit up a bit, ready to share her enthusiasm for that topic."Oh yeah! My dad used to show me the old movies when I was little. And I still really enjoy watching it now. What about you?" (Y/n) questioned with a grin, always excited and ready to get into geeky topics. Peter blushed slightly, not accustomed to girls asking about what he likes or thinks. He smoothed his fingers through his brown hair, thinking of a response to her question."I like Star Wars too. I didn't know many gir- I mean-uh, it's cool that you like it to! I, uh..." Peter stumbled over his words, trying not to be offensive or boring to (Y/n). He thought she seemed pretty cool, even though he only met her a minute ago. He finally had knowledge on a topic that he could talk to with another girl, since most girls at Midtown didn't even know what Star Wars was"Uh, yeah. My friends and I try always try to make up jokes about Star Wars. In the end, we get a pile of terrible puns," (Y/n) chuckled, recalling how her friends adore horrible puns. Peter, trying to showcase some confidence instead of anxiety, spat out a pun, trying to impress (Y/n) with humor. But due to his anxiety in the situation, he spoke the cringe-worthy line before he could think twice."Well, if you like Star Wars puns, metaphors be with you!" Peter delivered the joke, lacking confidence. She chuckled politely, throwing back her heading and showing her teeth. She didn't expect to here anything remotely funny during a tutoring session with a stranger. Peter's smile widened a bit to the left, feeling much more optimistic about the tutoring arrangement."Oh my gosh Peter you just made a girl laugh with a Star Wars joke!" Peter thought in his head, now hive-fiving himself in his mind."I have to remember that one. Okay, we should get some chemistry work before we get into the Star Wars puns. Because there is no going back from that," (Y/n) smirked, bringing out her periodic table. Peter chuckled, remembering a chemistry pun he once told Ned. Not thinking twice about the consequences, Peter delivered the joke loud enough for (Y/n) to hear."Okay, but you should know I make some pretty bad chemistry puns, but only periodically!" Peter chuckled quietly to himself, looking down at the table. He waited for an awkward silence them, but instead laughter rang out. His chocolate eyes saw her shoulders shaking, laughter bellowing out from her mouth. She shed a few tears, trying to hold the laughter in, but instead making it worse. Peter smiled to himself, feeling proud that he made (Y/n) laugh again. Even though it wasn't a funny pun, he laughed with (Y/n), mostly because her laugh was contagious and adorable and kinda weird."Ssshhhhh!" the school librarian spat at Peter and (Y/n), both sophomores drying their eyes, trying to suppress giggles. Letting out a long sigh, the students met with teary eyes."That. was. great." (Y/n) whispered, her nose crinkling due to a large smile. Peter felt his face grow warm, smiling with his teeth showing, feeling very optimistic about tutoring (Y/n).°:. *₊ ° . ☆ °:. *₊ ° . ° .•
