Elanna•••
I never imagined myself as a bride. But at the times that I did, I built this scenario in my head where I was in a castle, running down the stairs with my big gown on. The happiness and laughter growing inside of my stomach. But the only thing i'll be running from in this wedding is a lifelong of fear and corruption.
With my dress on, I stare at myself in the mirror as I sit at my dressing table, a knot tied by my intestines. I sigh at the incomplete glow I wished to have on this day. Instead, my eye bags are more prominent with my smile lines that have now disappeared from all my tears and long faces.
I slip on my bridal gloves whilst suppressing the urge to cry once again. I was up all night recapping what happened with Alvaro yesterday. I felt devastated for leaving him in that state, but I could only blame myself.
I wish I never entered his life and dragged him to his lowest. I sit with guilt knowing that because of me, this poor man travelled across the globe to be with me. And here I am marrying someone else in order to hold security for mine and Ava's future.
With a sniff, I grab a tissue and wipe at my waterline, being careful not to smear any of my makeup or my mascara. The house is silence with only me and Ava preparing ourselves to leave for the outdoor venue across the road from our home. There is a beautiful field out there with a dreamy bridge, but not so dreamy wedding.
The door creaks open as Ava appears in a blue sparkly dress, my first time witnessing her applying makeup and looking her best. "Aw Ava", I say with a large smile as I admire her beauty. "I wanna take this off", She mumbles. "Oh here we go", I say, almost forgetting how often she complains.
"Oo but can I use some of this?", Ava asks as she attempts to grab a special lipstick off of my dressing table. I quickly snatch it off of her and hold it close to me. "No!. It's not what you think Ava", I say. Her brows crease in confusion but to explain, I simply pull the lid off and reveal the sharp knife that daggers out of the pink metallic case.
