Shallow
Masayang kasama si Aiah. Napakadaldal at parang hindi nauubusan ng kwento. She's a highschool students at may isa pa palang kapatid si Sielo. Lalaki daw ito na nangangalang Sien. Wala ang isang kapatid nito dito Kasi may training daw.
"Why don't you tell us something about yourself, Ate?" she said.
Natigilan ako. I'm not the type to share personal stories about my personal life, especially since I feel like I don't belong to my own family.
Nang mapansin ni Sielo na naging tahimik ako ay kinausap nito ang kapatid.
"Lil sis. Wala sa lahi natin ang pagiging tsismosa."
Aiah pouted and shot her brother an annoyed look. "I’m just curious," she replied.
"Why don’t you two have some snacks?"
Nagulat pa ako sa mabilis na kilos ni Aiah papunta sa kusina kaya kami nalang naiwan dito sa sala ni Sielo.
Tumabi ito saakin. "Pasensya ka na sa kapatid ko ha. Napakakulit. Iwan ko ba kung saan pinaglihi ni mama." Sabi niya habang napakamot sa ulo.
I avoided his gaze. "It's okay. Your sister is fun to be with. She’s really amusing," I said honestly.
"Halika na mag merienda na tayo. Baka naubos naiyon ng kapatid ko." he said. I chuckled softly; they always tease each other, but despite that, I could see how caring and loving Sielo was toward his sister.
I hope my own brothers are like that with me.
When we arrived in the kitchen, Aiah was already eating.
"Napakatakaw." Parinig nito sa kapatid.
"Sit next to me, Ate Canny," she said, patting the chair beside her. I moved closer and sat down.
"Anong work pala ng parents niyo?" I asked kasi pansin ko na sila lang ang nandito, walang mga katulong.
"Both of them are doctors. Mom is a veterinarian, and Dad is a neurosurgeon," Aiah explained. "Maybe all of us siblings will end up being doctors too," she added. I nodded at her statement.
Napasigaw ako sa gulat ng maramdaman may humaplos sa binti ko na mabalahibo. Mabilis lumapit si Sielo saakin. Napahawak pa ako sa aking dibdib.
It was just a cat.
Aiah picked up the fat ginger cat.
"Hello, Pocket. Why did you scare Ate Canny?" she said to the cat.
I heard Sielo laugh. I glared at him.
"Your reaction was so funny," he said, still laughing.
"I was just surprised," I explained.
I returned home late because I ended up having dinner with Sielo's parents, who had unexpectedly invited me. I couldn't refuse.
I also apologized to Sielo’s parents for the injury because of me.
"Where have you been? It’s late," Mom’s first remark when I got home.
Andito silang lahat pwera lang sa isa kong kuya. Hinarap ko sila. " May inihatid lang ako." I answered.
"So, that’s why you got home so late?" she asked sarcastically.
"I'm tired, Mom. I want to rest," I said, turning to leave.
But Mom spoke again before I could go.
"Hindi pa ako tapos makipag-usap saiyo. Ganun ka ba kabastos upang talikuran ako." Galit nitong sabi.
I faced her. "Ano pa bang dapat pag usapan natin mom? If you’re just going to scold me, then don’t. I’m too tired to listen right now," I said tiredly.
"Canny!" Dad interjected. "Hon, calm down. Canny, sit down. We have something important to discuss. Let’s wait for your kuya miggy."
I sat at a seat far from them.
"Akala ko pagod. Pero may oras umalis kasama ang kakilala kaysa sa kapatid." Parinig ni kuya.
Minsan gusto kong tahiin ang bibig ni kuya vin. Daig pa kasi ang babae.
"Kuya. Huwag kang magsimula ng gulo." Mahinang suway ni Sammy kay kuya.
Hindi ko siya pinansin. Mukhang napikon siya dahil tumayo ito akmang lalapitan ako kundi lang pinigilan ni Sammy.
"Ayaw ko talaga sa ugali mo!!" Pikon niyang sabi.
"Vin. Canny. What’s the problem between the two of you?" Dad asked.
"Iyang babaeng iyan. Mas inuna pa ang ibang tao kaysa sa kapatid niya." Sabay duro saakin.
"Ano bang ibig mong sabihin vin?"
"Wala daddy." Si Sammy na ang sumagot.
"Anong wala lil sis. You look unhappy kanina dahil di ka sinamahan ni canny."
Kailangan bang gawing issue ang hindi pagsama kay sammy.
"Samahan saan vin?" Si mama.
"Nagpapalambing lang si lil sis sa kaniya na samahan siya mag shopping. Bonding nilang dalawa at ito namang isa pagod daw pero may oras pang samahan ang ibang tao."
I stayed silent, unwilling to defend myself further. No matter how much I tried to explain my side, I still ended up looking like the villain.
"Canny. Sana pinagbigyan mo ang kapatid mo. Sana makiramdam ka sa nararamdaman ng kapatid mo. Inuna mo pa ang ibang tao. " Si mom. "Ate ka pa naman."
"Mom. Please I understand ate."
I stared blankly at them. "Do we really need to make a big deal out of not going with her? Kung oo man. I'm sorry dahil nasaktan ko ang damdamin niyo dahil lang sa mababaw na dahilan." I said, standing up. "I’m going back to my room."
