"Miss Foster.. Miss Foster!" Mr. Sweeney yells to get my classmate's attention. Sophie Foster is a twelve year old highschool senior, and is smart enough to be accepted into Harvard University despite not applying. Though, as the smartest kid in the whole school, you'd think she would be loved by all the teachers. She's not. Like at all. Mr. Sweeney has a big ego and hates that she's smarter than him.

"Miss Foster, do you think you're too smart for this lesson?" Sweeney's nasally voice breaks my train of thought as I look over at Sophie, who is currently yanking out her eyelashes. Contrary to everyone else in this school, I actually quite like Sophie. She keeps to herself and tries to stay out of the spotlight as much as possible. Sweet kid really. I watch as she pulls her earbuds out in response to Sweeney's accusing question.

"Well since you're so smart why don't you reach the class about the Lambeosaurus." I'm not all that surprised that he singled her out like this. He's done it more than once because her very existence hurts his ego.
Sophie mutters under her breath before telling the class the facts that I noticed were on the information plate of the exhibit. As she does I watch as Mr. Sweeney's face turns sour in annoyance. Once she finishes, he turns with a huff before directing the class to the next exhibit.

"Nice going super-freak. Why don't you tell us more about the Lame-o-saurus." Garwin Chang, a boy wearing a shirt that says 'Back off, I'm gonna Fart!' sneered. Garwin is probably the dumbest person I've met in my life, and by the look of Sophie's exasperated face, she thinks so too. I hadn't realized I was staring until I accidentally made eye contact with Sophie. I quickly look away and put my attention on Garwin, contemplating intervening. Glancing at Sophie again, I sigh and mentally prepare myself for the raging Idiocracy that Garwin displays on the regular. Choking back my pride, I walk over to the scene.

"Hey, Sophie I wondered if you knew anything else about the Lambeosaurus. I find dinosaurs really interesting and you seem to know a lot about them." I lightly smile at Sophie knowing damn well I don't care about dinosaurs at all.

"Hey, Curve buster has a little friend that's just as lame as her." Garwin laughs at his less than entertaining insult.

"That's rich coming from you, Mr. 'I-got-rejected-from-my-dream-school.' Where are your friends?' I spit back, my annoyance becoming all the more obvious with every word. Garwin's application to Harvard was rejected not too long ago while Sophie had earned a full scholarship. In the end she rejected it in favor of going to a smaller community college. It was all over the newspaper.

"I wasn't- I wasn't rejected. I rejected them." He sputtered out, face red with anger.

"Aw it looks like I hit a nerve." I state plainly. He trembles with rage as he turns and leaves without another word.

"You didn't have to do that, you know.." I hear a meek voice behind me.

"Would you rather I left you alone with him?" I questioned, before turning to her.

"He's a dick, I know it, you know it, everyone knows it. He's just mad because you got accepted into Harvard when he was rejected, which isn't fair to you. So even if you didn't want me to intervene I would have anyway."

She sweat dropped at my obvious hatred of Garwin. "Thank you." She mumbled.

"Hm?"

"Thank you." She says a little louder.

"Oh, it's no problem don't worry about it." I say before walking off to catch up to the class.

Dropping the conversation may seem rude but I just really don't like people all that much. Usually I wouldn't go out of my way to help someone, but for some reason this time I felt compelled to do so. Once I get back to the class I take a glance at Sophie, she's still standing where I left her, but there's someone talking to her, holding what looks to be a newspaper. She seems awkward like she's either ready to swoon or run from the stranger. I watch as she puts a hand to her head, and the stranger matches the gesture. She suddenly seems terrified and before I can leave to get her away from the guy causing her discomfort, she bolts out the doors of the museum, the strange boy in tow.
