-i trust you- CHAPTER 15

It was the next day and the 4 of us were all hanging out at Heyward's, helping him out. No sign of John B though.

"Don't let it get in your head bro. There was three of them and two of us. That's some typical kook stuff." Jj assured Pope.

"True." I said.

Jj smiled at me. For the first time in like 3 days Jj actually acknowledged me. I guess his period ended.

"What was your thought process using your head?" Jj asked, referring to when Pope headbutted Topper.

"I don't know man, I just kind of acted off instinct. I was a cornered animal." Pope responded.

"Hey Pope! Someone's here to see you." Mr.Heyward said.

The 4 of us looked up and we saw Shoupe.

"Evening Officer." Pope greeted.

"I have an arrest warrant for felony destruction of property." Shoupe said.

"What?" Heyward said.

Jj and Pope looked at each other. These boys are so stupid.

"Hands where I can see 'em." Shoupe said.

"Wait, wait, no." I said standing in front of Pope.

"Liana, out of my way." Shoupe told me.

"Shoupe what did he do?" Heyward asked.

"Look at the warrant." Shoupe responded.

"I'm sorry, you're arresting him?!" Kie said.

"You're arresting my boy?" Heyward said.

"Shoupe, stop!" I yelled as he handcuffed Pope.

"Anything you say can and will be held against you in the court of law. You have the right to an attorney." Shoupe told Pope.

"How much did they pay you man?" Jj asked angrily.

"Shoupe he didn't do anything!" I yelled.

"You can't arrest him!" Kie yelled.

Jj tried to fight Shoupe but Heyward held him back.

"Jj it's ok." I said.

"No it's not ok." He replied.

He stood there for a bit as if he was thinking. Then he turned around, grabbed my face, and kissed me. I felt paralyzed, surprised, and confused.

"What?" I said after he pulled away.

Why did he kiss me? He clearly showed a couple days ago that  he doesn't have any feelings for me.

"It wasn't him!" Jj yelled. "It was me! He tried to talk me out of it but I was mad because he had just been beaten up. I was so sick of  those jerks from Figure 8 that I lost it. I can't let you take the blame for something I did. You've got too much to lose."

"Jj what are you doing?" Pope asked.

"Telling the truth. For once in my goddamn life, i'm gonna tell the truth." He replied.

"Jj stop." I said.

"No Liana, you stop. I took his old man's boat too." He said.

"What the hell?" Heyward said.

"Jj, come on." Pope said.

"Just shut up Pope!" Jj yelled. "He's a good kid. You know where i'm from."

Shoupe nodded.

"That's the whole truth?" Shoupe asked.

"Whole truth, swear to God." Jj said.

"Damn it, i'm asking Pope." Shoupe said.

Jj slightly nodded at Pope.

"Yea, that about covers it." Pope said.

Shoupe took the handcuffs off Pope and put them on Jj.

"No,no,no!" Kie said.

"Shoupe! Shoupe! Wait!" I yelled. "Let me talk to him! Please! Shoupe!"

I tried to push past Shoupe to get to Jj but Shoupe was way stronger than me.

"Please let me talk to him." I pleaded.

"Fine. You have a minute." He said.

"Jj, you can't do this your dad's going to be mad." I told him tears rolling down my face.

"I know but Pope can't lose everything he's worked for." He said.

"Jj i'll tell him it was me. My mom can bail me out." I said.

"No! Liana, look at me. I'll be fine. Just trust me. You have to trust me." He said.

He grabbed my cheek and I connected our lips. I felt fireworks erupting in my stomach as we kissed. We pulled away but our foreheads were still connected.

"I trust you." I smiled.

"I'll come find you when I get out okay?"

"Ok."

We watched as Shoupe closed the door and drove away. Pope started freaking out.

"Crap!" He said throwing his cap on the ground and stomping away.

I was at Kie's house sitting on her bed with her staring at the ceiling.

"What you thinking about?" Kie asked me.

"Jj. I'm worried about him." I admitted.

"Hey, it's okay. It's Jj, he will survive."

"I know, but I just can't help but worry."

"If it helps you feel better I saw you guys kiss, both times." She squealed.

"I don't know, i'm a bit confused."

"What do you mean?"

" The first time we kissed was at the beach, but the next day he said he was just drunk and that it was a mistake, but then we kissed at my house and he said it was a mistake again so we started arguing and he left."

"What?"

"Yea, that's why we weren't really talking to each other. But then before he confessed he kissed me. And when I kissed him before he got taken away he kissed me back. But i don't know, what if it was just another mistake."

"Ok Lia, listen,Jj definitely likes you. He's just bad at expressing his emotions because of how he grew up."

"I don't know, why would he say it was a mistake then?"

"When he gets out just talk to him."

"Ok, i'll try."
