We made a fire and we sat down around it. I was sitting next to Jj.

"So, like, my dad's already gonna kill me. So what's this mandatory meeting about?" Pope asked.

"You guys ready for this?" John B asked.

"Yea."

"So, the gold never went down with the Royal Merchant." John B told us.

"Ugh, here we go again." I rolled my eyes.

"Just hear him out, okay?" Jj whispered in my ear.

I nodded.

"It's been here the whole time." John B continued. "It's on the island."

"Are you serious?" Kie asked.

John B nodded.

"Oh my god!" I exclaimed.

"I'd like to voice my skepticism." Pope said.(🤓👆)

"I'm sure you would Pope." John B said. "But may I please present you with my evidence sir?"

"Proceed." Pope said.

"So, in my backpack..." John B took a paper out his backpack. "I have a letter from Denmark Tanny."

"Who is that?" I asked John B

"Good question. Denmark Tammy was a slate that survived the Royal Merchant wreck. Check this out."

He gave the letter to Kie.

"Slaves weren't mentioned as crew members on the ship, but my dad, he found the complete manifest. That was his big discovery. So Tanny used the gold from the Merchant to buy his freedom. Drumroll please, because that farm is.... " John B said.

We all drumrolled

"Tannyhill Plantation. So after that, he used his money to free even more slaves, and then he sold a ton of rice, which pisses off all the white planters, and then they decide to lynch him. So on the day they were coming to get him, he writes a letter to his son as a farewell, and in the last time of that letter, he leaves a coded message about where to find the gold." John B explains.

"Where?" Kie asks John B, whispering with a smile on her face.

"Harvest the wheat in parcel nine, near the water. Except... there's no wheat. You see, wheat is code for gold. The gold is on parcel none, near the water. All we need is an original survey map of the property and we've found the gold."

"Okay, so this might have a small chance of being actually true." Pope said.

"I'm a genius." John B said.

"Don't get too cocky now." I said.

John B held his arms open and Jj gave him a hug, holding up him up.

"Fire! You're near the fire.Your gonna burn." John B looked at the fire next to them.

"I'm so proud of you right now." Jj told John B holding on to his face.

"Thank you. That's really sweet of you."

"Okay so guys, what's the plan?" Pope asked John B,

"Good question. Sarah Cameron's coming tonight. She's gonna bring an original survey map-"

"What?!"

"Wait, hold on. Sarah? Why Sarah?" Kie asked.

I knew that Sarah and Kie had a rough past. Kie told me all about it when we were having her sleepover. I have a right to be mad right? I mean, Sarah was the same person that called me a snake for no reason and bailed on Kie for no reason.
