chapter 5 - Babysitting

Estella's POV :

Before leaving for their date , Mr and Mrs Loud showed me around the house and gave me the instructions . I got the hang of the rooms downstairs and the location of the bathroom but I had a hard time memorizing each kid's designated room which they told me not to worry about - the kids knew their own rooms , even Lily . Mrs Loud started going on about every little detail and didin't seem to stop .

"We will be back at midnight , you can call us if you need anything , we put both our numbers on a little piece of paper besides the stove but I don't think you'll need it . "

Mrs Loud was fixing her earring and mumbled something about Lucy having a morticians club thingy ? I didin't quite register that but I shrugged it off . She went on .

"If the kids get hungry you can serve them some of the leftovers from lunch , it's in the fridge . Although I doubt that , they just ate . Lily will have a bottle of milk before bed and that's about it . The kids need to be in bed by 9:30 but Lily has to be tucked in by 8 , if she gives you a hard time when putting her in bed , read her a fairytale . She has a few books with short stories next to the nightstand on her side of the room , she loves jokes and finds peek-a-boo hilarious ."

She paused for a minute , taking a deep breath , almost like she was scattering through her mind trying to remember what else to say .

"I don't think the other kids will bother you with bedtime because Lola has a pagent tomorrow and she "needs her beauty sleep" , Lana is always wasted by then , Lisa believes in getting atleast 9 hours of sleep and Lucy does her own thing . If she wants to sleep in her coffin , let her , it's a classic Lucy thing and she's done it countless times before ."

Oh damn , they were a handful . I thought that was it but , of course , nothing is that simple in the loud family .

"Oh and , Lynn is gonna be around the house , you can talk to her if you loose anything , if the kids get into an argument that you can't seem to get to the bottom of , she can also help with that . You can put on a movie but please don't let them go outside anymore . They tend to get all dirty and I had them shower already today . I think that's all , thank you so much for babysitting them , " Mrs Loud let out a sigh when she finished and rushed to the car but I stopped her to thank her .

"Alright then , have fun at your date . Don't worry about the kids , I have everything under control and thank you again for the job ! " I felt the need to acknowledge how grateful I was that she trusts me to take care of her kids .

"You're welcome , bye sweetie ! " Mrs Loud said and gave me a hug . "Bye Mrs Loud ! "

Okay , let's get started . I have no idea what to do with 5 kids for 5 hours but I was gonna get through the night just like I always do . I was Estella Woodsen after all .

If you ever did babysitting before ,  you know that you have to take every free moment you possibly could to tick the tasks off of the list . You never know what will happen with children - especially when there's five of them .

I decided to make Lily my top priority because she was the youngest so I put on a movie for the kids that only Lola and Lana decided to watch .

Lisa had an "extremely importent science experiment to assist" and Lucy had her morticians club meeting . I remember her mom mentioning that it was okay while fiddling with her earring a little while before so I didin't question her - she seemed relieved when I gave her a simple "Alright , have fun" and turned towards the basement .

I picked Lily up into my arms and headed to the kitchen to pre-make her bottle . I took the toys from my bag and seated her on the floor right next to me then scattered them around her .
