Sophia's POV

"Why is Leila calling you?" I heard her ask in a serious tone.

A smirk appeared on my face. "Why do you care so much about Leila and I?"

"Answer me Sophia" Vivienne demanded. "Why is she calling you geez, it's not that hard to answer that question"

"Just as it's not that hard to answer mine" I respond by taking a sip of the lemonade. "Oh god this lemonade is really good."

I heard her sigh, frustration etched on her face. "Why are you so difficult?" she said, her voice rising with barely contained anger.

"Why are you so noisy?" I shot back, finishing the lemonade with deliberate slowness. "I thought you hated me," I added, recalling the amounts of cold glares she'd given me over the past year.

"And you're right," Vivienne said, her eyes hardening as she turned her attention back to her phone, the device that seemed to shield her from confronting her own feelings.

"Why do you even hate me?" I asked, genuinely curious. Her silence was deafening, almost as if she was grappling with the weight of my question. "So, by your silence, you hate me because of nothing. Seems like you're obsessed with me," I pushed, unable to resist poking at her vulnerability.

"Why would I be obsessed with you?" she retorted, standing up abruptly as she approached me, closing the distance that had always been more than physical.

"You're proving me wrong" I said, also standing up looking deeply into her eyes. "You're proving me wrong by being so defensive right now"

"Bitch" she said. "You want to know why I hate you?" she asked, her voice deadly serious. "You only care about yourself. You're a self-centered bitch who's oblivious to anyone else's feelings."

I frowned, taken aback by the intensity of her words. "What are you talking about, Vivienne?" I asked, genuinely confused.

Her accusation felt like a slap, bringing up memories of times I might have been dismissive without realizing the impact.

"What are you talking about Vivienne" I repeated to her, confused. "Did your lemonade have some alcohol in it?" I laughed.

I see Vivienne shake her head in disappointment while taking a step back pulling herself away from me. "You really don't remember?" she murmurs. "Or you're acting like you don't know or you just really forgot about it" Vivienne uttered looking at me deeply.

Now I was invested, what was Vivienne Kingsley talking about. I wanted to ask her that but Evelyn's voice interrupted us.

"I'm sorry girls I have to go" she said walking towards us. "Vivi, I'll be back next week," she said, hugging her daughter. "Sophie It was nice to meet you darling" she gave me a smile before walking off the kitchen.
