Anika POV

I am sure that my parents are alive. I do feel terribly guilty for keeping the phone call to myself, but if I told them about it, it would just cause everyone else to get all mad and jealous, assuming none of their parents had actually made it, and according to whoever answered the phone, they hadn't.

We were walking down my street, I could just see the roof of my house. My heart suddenly felt like it was trying to rip itself out of my chest. Why had I listened to a stranger who picked up the phone that's inside my house?

I'm such an idiot, whoever he was, must've broken into my house. But why? Did he do it to keep his promise and protect my parents?

I was sprinting before I knew it. The others are still behind me, looks like they only just realized I started running too.

Soon enough, I was in my front yard. I threw my bag onto the ground (Not too hard since my computer, and other stuff is in there) and raced to the door.

I fished out my house key from my pocket, which I had put in there this morning so that I could open the door straight away. My hands were shaking so bad, that I could barely get the key into the lock. Using my other hand, I steadied the one holding the key, and pushed it into the slot.

The only thing I could hear was my breathing. It was rapidly speeding up. My heartbeat felt like a gong was being smashed against my ear, But then I heard another sound, one that wasn't coming from inside me. It was a clicking sound.

I threw open the door and sprinted in, the others still trying to catch up with me. I screamed their names. I don't care how loud I am. I want to find my parents.

I ran to their shared bedroom first, since there was a chance that they were still in there.

Nothing.

I checked the bathroom.

...

Nothing.

Kitchen?

...

Nothing.

Living room?

...

Nothing.

Back yard?

..

Nothing.

Losing any hope, I went to the final spot in the house that they could be. Their study. The door to the study was shut, and I couldn't hear anything on the other side of the door.

My hands were shaking again. I heard my friends standing behind me, and together, we all opened the door.

The door opened slowly with a long lasting creak sound. I walked into the room.

Instantly, I dropped to my knees and squeezed my eyes shut. What the hell is this? No... My parents were going to survive. They can't be dead! There's just no fucking way... No... NO.

What the fuck is this? T There dead...I don't have anyone anymore. I'll never ever see them again...Dead...

Dead.

I felt someone wrap their arms tightly around me, holding me close. I struggled to open my eyes at first, since my eyes had started to fill up with so many tears, but when my sight cleared, I saw who it was.

Everybody was there, wrapping me up in one big hug. Usually I would be against physical contact, especially from Sam, but this felt nice. Comforting.

I let all the emotions out. A loud, pain filled the whole house until my throat was so dry I couldn't say another word. The others squeezed my tight, and for once, I let them.
