january 14, 2017: freshmen year
"paige! why'd it take you so long to answer!" cornelia yelled, in an excited yet frustrated tone, into her phone.

"i'm sorry cory, my mom made me do my homework." paige groaned, rolling her eyes.

"you will never believe who called me!" cornelia squealed.

paige giggled at her friend, "who?"

cornelia took a deep breath before talking again, "connor!"

"really? what did he say?" she asked, furrowing her eyebrows.

"he wants to hang out tomorrow night!" cornelia squealed again.

"aw man, really? i thought we could hang out tomorrow.." paige said, with a tone of disappointment.

"why don't tonight then?" cornelia said, trying to cheer her up. "we can play basketball."

paige laughed, "cory, you don't like basketball."
she could tell that her friend was just trying to make her feel better, and she appreciated it.

"no, but i like you." cornelia said, giggling.

paige paused before she spoke, noticing a weird feeling in her stomach. a weird feeling she'd never felt before, especially not with her best friend.

"plus you're my best friend, so i'm basically obligated to do things with you whether i like them or not." cornelia said, sliding on her shoes.

just like that the feeling was gone, leaving paige wondering.

"i'll call you when i get there, p." cornelia said, before hanging up. paige sighed, throwing her hair into a ponytail, and putting her shoes on, before grabbing her basketball and waiting on her porch for her best friend.

a few minutes later, cornelia arrives at paige's house on her bike. "hey p!" she said, jumping off her bike, and leaving it into the grass.

"hey cory." paige said, before walking over to the hoop that was infront of her driveway.

"horse?" paige asked, looking at her cornelia.

"seriously? you're actually gonna make me play?" cornelia pouted, but still followed her friend.

"aye, you're the one who said you said you would." paige shrugged, shooting a layup.

cornelia reluctantly took the ball from paige, shooting a layup.

"that wasn't terrible, but your form is ass." paige said, mocking her form.

she rolls her eyes. "oh come on. don't get all mad. how about after this, we can play volleyball or whatever." paige said, bouncing the ball toward her.

she nods, and they go back to playing. after like 10 minutes of bickering, the game finally ends, with paige winning, obviously.

"what happpennndduhh!" paige teased, annoyingly. cornelia responded with a gentle shove.

they were about to play volleyball, when it started to rain. "seriously?" cornelia groaned, as they walked inside.

cornelia greeted paige's family as they walked downstairs to the basement, where paige had her wii. they played wii sports for hours, until paige accidentally threw the controller at cornelia's face, that resulted in a bag of peas being held on her face for a half hour.

"sorry about your face." paige said, sitting down next to the cornelia.

"it's okay, i was winning anyway." cornelia shrugged, as she laid her legs on paige's lap.

"i'm gonna let that one slide because i hurt you, but next time.." paige argued.

cornelia just laughed, throwing a pillow at her. they just sat in silence for a while, before paige spoke up.

"hey cory?" paige said, running her hand on along her friends calf, not looking at her.

"yeah p?" cornelia replied, propping herself up with her elbow.

"promise.. promise you won't forget about me? you know, like if you do start dating connor?" paige asked rather quietly.

"you're my bestfriend paige i could never forget about you. who else would i play refrigerator roulette with?" cornelia said, giggling at the last part.

paige laughed, shaking her head.

"ew p, i just realized something." cornelia said, covering her eyes.

"yeah?" paige asked, looking over at her friend.

"what if connor tries to kiss me?" cornelia said cringing.

"ew gross! i don't wanna think about you kissing anyone." paige said, covering her eyes too.

"shut up paige," cornelia said, laughing. "i don't even know how to kiss someone."

paige put her hand up in the shape of an 'L' to mock her friend. cornelia narrowed her eyes, swatting the hand away.

"you don't know how to kiss either shut up." cornelia remarked.

"i mean, how hard could it be?" paige shrugged.

"no, paige put your hands here." cornelia said, grabbing paige's hands and putting them on her waist.

cornelia put her hands on paige's shoulders, as they looked at each other for a few seconds, before cornelia spoke up.

"okay, left or right?" cornelia asked, looking up at her friend. paige looked away while she thought.

"hm.. right, no left!" she said, as cornelia laughed.

they both leaned in, before cornelia pulled away.

"what?" paige asked, as her friend smacked her on the shoulder.

"you went right!" cornelia cursed at her, making paige laugh.

"what's the difference?" paige asked laughing, with her hands still on cornelia's waist.

"you really need to learn your right from your left, p. like what if-" cornelia ranted, getting interrupted by paige's hand on the side of her face. she furrowed her eyebrows, before paige leaned in and kissed her.

cornelia was shocked, but immediately kissed her back, as she put one of her hands on the side of paige's neck, and one on her shoulder.

after a few seconds, they pulled away from eachother, both of their faces flushed a light shade of pink. they both looked away, trying not to meet each other's gaze, until paige spoke up.

"see? that wasn't hard was it?" paige joked, as cornelia shoved her gently, laughing while she shook her head.

"shut up p."
