normally this time of the year would be when club volleyball would start up again for cornelia, but this year she decided to hold off on club.it was her senior year, and she just needed a break, so she decided to rest for club season, and help coach the younger players instead.
she always loved going to the younger players games, because it definitely reminded her of herself, when she was little.
she'd always loved volleyball, it cleared her mind. volleyball was always there for her when other people couldn't be. she had always been independent; had a small group of close friends, and kept to herself.
well, maybe not always, but definitely since the end of freshman year. she lost the most important person to her which left her to lose most of the trust she had in people, shattering her sense of self.
paige had really hurt her, and the way she had recently just been trying to talk to her like nothing happend, really set cornelia off.
paige and cornelia had been talking about going to uconn together since they were 8, so it was difficult for cornelia to pick stanford.
it wasn't because of paige, at all, or that's what she liked to tell herself. she had looked up to uconn's volleyball team for years.
sure they definitely weren't ranked top 5, or 10, not even 20. but it was the players who cornelia cared about. not about their skills, about their drive, and their passion.
cornelia decided to ditch her morals though, since uconn was definitely down the drain for her. she settled on stanford, their team being ranked top 5 in the US. it was just a plus that it was on the whole other side of the country, far, far away from uconn.

⠀⠀ ⊹cornelia stood on the court, throwing volleyballs to the setter, as the girls were in a hitting line. the head coach was on the other side of the court, doing the same with the other half of the team.
"good swing jessica, try to time your jump so you hit the ball at the highest point of your reach." cornelia said, critiquing the girl that had hit the ball, getting a nod in response.
"you guys are doing good with your hits, just remember to keep your elbow high and follow through with your wrist for better control and power." she explained, before bill, the main coach, told everyone to get a water break.
coach bill was on the phone with the owner of the gym they were practicing at, trying to see if the team could practice there all week.
"is it true you're playing for stanford?" one of the girls asked, before sipping her water.
"yeah, signing day is friday. i'm super excited, it'll suck i can't help coach next season though." cornelia explained in all honesty. she really did enjoy helping out and hoped to become a coach after playing collegiate level.
"that's so cool! i want go play d1!" another girl said, as the rest of them agreed.
cornelia laughed, "i have no doubt that all of you guys will make d1, you guys are amazing and were getting that national title this season right?"
this got the girls riled up, and cornelia laughed, trying to keep them quiet while coach bill was on the phone. this is one of the things she's going to miss when she goes to college, she thought.
