As Zafrin stood in front of the mirror, she marveled at the reflection staring back at her. Today felt like she was turning a new leaf, stepping into a future she had only dreamt of. The intricate embroidery of her dress shimmered under the soft lights, each thread a testament to the love and care Roshina had poured into every detail. Roshina, her best friend, had orchestrated every aspect of this day with the precision of a maestro, treating Zafrin's engagement as if it were her own.
In the bustling living room, her parents were busy greeting guests, their faces lit with pride as they welcomed everyone with trays of refreshing drinks. The air was filled with laughter and the warm hum of conversations, a testament to the joy and anticipation that surrounded the occasion.
Aysha, her supportive cousin, sat beside her, a pillar of calm amidst the excitement. "I still remember how nervous I was during my engagement," Aysha said, her voice a soothing balm to Zafrin's frayed nerves.
Zafrin turned to Aysha, raising an eyebrow. "Really? You? Nervous?"
Aysha laughed, the sound bubbling up like a joyful melody. "Oh, you have no idea. I was a complete wreck. My hands were shaking so badly that I nearly spilled juice on my dress. And don't get me started on my feet! They were sweating like crazy. I had to change my shoes twice before the ceremony even started."
Zafrin giggled, the image of a flustered Aysha both amusing and comforting. "I can't imagine you being anything but poised and collected."
Aysha shook her head, her eyes twinkling with amusement. "Trust me, I was anything but. At one point, I even forgot my own name when someone asked me. I just stood there, blinking like an owl. My mother had to nudge me to snap out of it."
Zafrin laughed, feeling some of her own nerves dissipate. "Well, at least you didn't faint."
Aysha leaned in, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. "I came close. When they brought out the ring, I felt my knees go weak. I thought I was going to topple over right there in front of everyone."
Zafrin's laughter grew louder, the tension in her shoulders easing. "That makes me feel a lot better. I was worried I was the only one who felt like a bundle of nerves."
"You're definitely not alone," Aysha said, squeezing Zafrin's hand reassuringly. "But look at me now. Everything turned out just fine, and it will for you too."
Zafrin took a deep breath, feeling a surge of gratitude for Aysha's candidness. "Thank you for sharing that. I needed to hear it."
Aysha grinned. "Anytime. And if you need to laugh or cry, I'm right here."
Just then, Roshina entered the room, her eyes wide with excitement. "Are we ready, ladies?" she asked, clapping her hands together. "Zafrin, you look absolutely stunning. All eyes are going to be on you."
Zafrin blushed, the butterflies in her stomach fluttering more intensely. "Thanks to you, Roshina. You've outdone yourself."
Roshina waved her hand dismissively. "Please, it was a team effort. Now, let's get you out there and show everyone what a gorgeous bride-to-be looks like."
