Touchdown

"How much is the bet?" I asked.

"Five hundred bucks..."

My jaw dropped. That low? "Fucking cheap. I'm using my mom's car, and if I lost, for sure that price isn't enough to bail me out..." Or worst, to fund my funeral once my mom found out about this.

He tapped my shoulder with a grin on his stupid face. "Come on. Show em what you got. We'll stop after one track."

Geez.

My life under my mother's watch has always been this wild. I got friends here, the bad influence as what mom calls 'em because of their fondness of weeds. I always told her that I wasn't into it. My friends' shit has nothing to do with me, but my mom thinks I am just like them, or I would end up in jail because of them.

She's paranoid. My own obsession here was just cars, especially in the circuit or drag races, football, and whews...

"Tyler!" The girls greeted me as soon as I showed up with mom's car wearing my Ferrari jacket.

I smirked and nodded. I parked my car alongside others, waiting for the game. Though we all know this is a friendly one, once money is involved, I don't take it as a joke. I'm gonna bring home the bacon no matter what.

Lumabas ako para pag-usapan ang bet. I don't wanna settle on five hundred bucks. If my mom would scold me for using her car on the circuit, at least I would get something good here. I am not risking my life for nothing.

"It's cheap. Double it. Say...a grand," I offered.

"This is a friendly game, man," one of the thick-faced assholes who's too broke to even agree.

I rolled my eyes and chuckled. "Pussy..."

Siniko ako ni Peter, ang kaibigan kong British. I've seen the sudden change of their expressions. Mukhang nayabangan sa akin.

"Fine, a thousand bucks," and they seemed too challenged.

Hell yeah! This is what I'm talking about!

The place was filled with girls and boys, just some common friends and those from the neighbors who knew us, as they were now cheering for us five. The three looked constipated on my offer, while Jason, the monkey who always thinks he would win everything, shows he wasn't even scared with the bet, looked so confident. Hah. Let's see.

"Bro, we're fucked. The last time he joined, he got Bruno's car. He's good at racing." I heard their murmurs while I stopped in front of the girls and talked to them a bit to entertain myself.

Well, that's true. I got Bruno's flashy car last year for a month and used it as a business for rentals. When he got it back, I earned a thousand dollars at least. Easy money.

When the race started, I knew they were desperate to put me in my place for being this competitive, but I always give my best shot. I looked at the side mirror, maneuvered the steering wheel for a drift, and swiftly overtook the two cars. I whistled and chuckled when I looked up in the mirror to see them chasing after me.

My mother's car is the red Toyota GR Supra while most of my opponent's cars were ponys. Well...

"Goddamn it!" One of them curses after the game when they saw me on the finish line sitting on the head of my car, smoking. I won.

"I fucking told you he would win!" One of them slammed his door and pointed at Jason.

I showed my palm. "A bet is a bet."

Si Jason ang lumapit sa akin, tumayo sa maangas na paraan. I remained sitting while he towered me a bit since he's six foot two. Inilabas niya ang pera sa bulsa, gumagalaw ang panga at marahas na isinampal sa palad ko ang pera.
