Back to the start

"I get it now..." she whispered. Then all she feels is pain. 

Beth woke with a start. She gasped then sat up in bed. The first thing she noticed was she was in bed at home. It feels like years since she seen this room. I must be in heaven. I remembered Grady and Dawn. 

A knock at the door startled her. "Beth get a move on. You got to chores to do. Chickens need feeding." her mama yelled out.

She held back tears. While answering back. "Okay almost ready. Be down in a minute Mama." She can hear her walking away. Most likely to finish breakfast. Mama always was the first one up. To cook and get everyone fed to start the day.  

Getting up and changing clothes. This must be heaven. Dawn shot me. Daddy always said heaven is what you think the afterlife is. My heaven must be back home with family.  Beth walks to get her phone and go get breakfast. After life or not she's hungry.

After walking down to the kitchen, she pauses and looks at her mama. Tears in her eyes. She just gazes at her. When she got bit then sick. She wasn't allowed to see her. Daddy and Maggie didn't think she should see her like that.

"Well, are you going to stand there all day or get over here and eat?" Mama tells her with laughter on her face. She then motions to the plate she made on the table.

"Yeah, I just..." I started to say. Well, what was I to say.

"Bethy you, okay? Sweetheart what's wrong? Did you have a bad dream?" Mama asked worried.

"I'm fine, just a nightmare Mama." I then walk to the table to start eating. Don't want her to start fussing over me. Not when we are back together again. 

"If you say so. Now after you eat. You have about half an hour. Before you go to get to school. It's almost the end of the school year. Your Daddy and me get that this is your last year an all. That doesn't excuse slacking off. Before you know it, you'll be off to college." Mama told me.

"Yes ma'am." I say confused. My paradise shouldn't have school. Where was Shawn and Daddy. Can't wait to see them both. 

"Also do remember Maggie should be here this weekend. It's going to nice to have her here. We missed her last weekend however better last than never. So, make sure you don't make plans this weekend. Before you start Bethy. Jimmy will be there next weekend. You also get to see him at school." she told me. I start to get worried. Maggie and Glen went to Washinton.  Carol told me, when she woke up. This isn't making any sense. The hell is happening here. First Mama tells me about school, now Maggie's coming for a visit. 

Getting up and washing my dishes. I kiss Mama on the cheek. I head to the door to start my chores. What was happening. This is not how things are supposed to be. Then I remembered my phone. Pulling it out. Shocked rocked through me. The date is wrong. Why does it say April 26, 2010. I remember Rick got shot August 1 ,2010. Lori told me all about it. Nothing is making sense. 

Think Beth. Wait I got kidnapped on Christmas eve in 2011. I only know because Gordon let me know. Checking the time. As I finished my chores. I see I will make it to school on time. With time to spare. I'll call Maggie on the way to school.

After getting my stuff and leaving to school. I call Maggie on Bluetooth. She'll have answers. The line rings twice before she picks up.

"Hey ladybug why are you calling? Aren't you at school." Maggie told me. 

"Yeah, on my way right now. Mama said you're coming home this weekend?" 

"Yeah, have to do laundry. And I did miss last weekend. I had to study for a test. Daddy told me I had to makeup not coming over. It's not that I didn't want to come home. I had a test. Just you wait, you'll be in my shoes come in a few months. Can't believe you're graduating next month." She rambles on. It's so good to hear her voice. I can't make myself interrupt her.
