BONNIE
ALVAREZI almost didn't recognize myself as I stared in the mirror — there was a major difference between the old Bonnie and the new one. Clementine had disappeared and it was only Bonnie.
My past had been rough and it wasn't leaving any time soon, but I had locked it up through my marriage with Maddox. The batshit crazy bad boy made me like him. The smirk that played on my lips was as close to his.
Maddox made himself known as he whistled before he wrapped his arms around me from behind, "that's offending, my wife leaving me to deal with therapy alone."
We had agreed to go to therapy together, it didn't do much to ease our past since it was a shitload of disaster, but we mainly did it to ease the guilt.
"Have you heard anything from Dalton?"
Dalton Kladen was our next target, he was a pain in our asses, but it was nothing too hard on us. Maddox had already formed our gang members in action in case there was anything unexpected.
"He's on the move, he fucked with my plan, but your husband here is a top genius." He wiggled his eyebrows as I laughed when he showed me his shiny gun.
We had secrets mission then and there, Maddox was never going to settle into the boring husband type. He was too cool for that as he mentioned before.
Maddox was the epitome of a charismatic rebel, exuding an aura of untamed energy and fearless confidence. With his tousled hair and piercing eyes, he commanded attention wherever he went. His demeanor was unpredictable, often seen pushing boundaries and challenging norms with a devil-may-care attitude. Despite his rebellious nature, there was a magnetic charm about him that draws people in, fascinated by his wild spirit and fearless approach to life. Maddox thrived on adrenaline, whether racing motorcycles down city streets or taking risks that leave others in awe or concern. His energy was infectious, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he encounters.
Just add it in with the female version.
"I talked to our security team, they told me Dalton's location." I informed him as he twirled me around in my casual black dress that stopped at my thighs.
"Don't talk to me about work when you have this dress on," he flirted shamelessly, "where have you been hiding this from me, my cute monster?"
I chuckled as he kissed me and I kissed him back feverishly, my back bumped into the wall, but the phone ringing snapped us out of it.
"Fucking Victoria, I'll remember to send her a warning letter. She interrupted family moments." Maddox's husky voice whined as he made sure to slap my ass when I grasped my phone.
Sure enough, it was Victoria as Maddox smug smile was painted on his face as he leaned against the wall with one leg up.
"Dalton tried to damage my house. You guys need to get here fast."
It was a good thing that her house was in a secluded area. We didn't want to bust out our mission.
My heart sped up as the worst thoughts formed, I was scared for her son as I told her we would be there and Maddox frowned at me, but I just dragged him as we hastily locked the house before we went into the car.
"We need to go now." I demanded as Maddox sped up to her house. Thankfully, she lived near.
Battered spilled drawers on the lawn, broken entrance door, and blood splattered on the front porch steps, this was the beginning of the list.
"Fucking hell." Maddox swore as we saw the collateral damage.
I didn't have time to watch as I sprinted to Victoria holding her son as he cried. I hugged them both before checking if there was any bruises.
"What happened?" I asked as Maddox called our members to clean up the debris.
Victora was dead silent until she gave me a picture that had my mom in it and a letter. My heart almost went into cardiac arrest as a pair of blue eyes stared back at me. My hands shook violently when the threat letter made itself clear of the truth.
She was alive.
"But why would they hide her?" I asked to myself as Victoria held her son closer to her.
"I-I don't know but she has something to do with Dalton." She stammered, her eyes dazed in fear and her lips trembled. "Please, Bonnie, I don't want them to take my son again."
I placed my hand above hers in assurance. "I promise, nobody will take your son." We remained in eye contact until Maddox cursed under his breath.
Serious Maddox stood with a rigid posture, his usual lively demeanor replaced by a focused intensity. His eyes, typically vibrant, now held a steely determination as he absorbed the news of the impending attack. Every movement he made was deliberate, his jaw clenched in resolve, signaling the gravity of the situation. Maddox's normally animated gestures were restrained, replaced by a palpable sense of urgency and purpose. In this moment, his seriousness commanded attention, reflecting his readiness to confront the imminent threat with unwavering determination.
It all happened too fast. The gunshots made us scream and get into the damaged house for protection.
"Maddox, get in here." My shrill shouts were heard by Maddox, but he was too busy aiming at the truck that drove by as he pressed on the trigger.
"Attack them now." He shouted then snapped his finger as three tainted sport cars went into action — they were on a hunt as they raced fast to get the truck.
Victoria attempted to calm the shivering boy down, but he was in a whole trauma as I took both of his hands and told him it was okay.
"I need to travel to keep him safe."
"You can't – we can't look after you if you are in danger out there." I insisted, it was justified that she wanted to protect him, but it was better if she was under our eyes.
"Pack up, you're going to live with us." The kid looked up when Maddox said that and it seemed like he trusted my husband more than Victoria.
Everything was safe with Maddox as he weaved his fingers with mine and gave orders to the approaching men to help Victoria.
