BONNIE
ALVAREZI couldn't sleep at night as I shuffled myself to the bathroom with my white robe on, I tried to sleep but my stomach wouldn't let me as I lurched onto the toilet with my hands on each side.
Nothing came out as I leaned against the bathtub and tied my hair, Victoria barged in and saw me in this state, then she knelt down to my level and clasped both of my arms.
"Should I call the ambulance?" She asked in concern. She was in her Pajamas and her hair was frazzled.
"No, I'll be fine. Sorry, I didn't mean to wake you up." I apologized and she dismissed it as she sat next to me, the yellow bathroom lights illuminated onto our faces. I probably looked like a sick monster to Victoria, but I was thankful she didn't comment on it. "I just don't know what's the matter with me." I voiced out in my tired voice.
I hugged my stomach and her eyes broadened as she held my hand and made me stand up with her. My joints hurt a little, but I managed to take support on the bathroom sink as I leaned on it.
"You might be pregnant."
No fucking way. This wasn't the right time.
"No, no, no, no." I was distraught as I paced around the wide bathroom and whispered with my fingers on my lips as I picked on my nails. "This can't be happening."
"I could be wrong, though. Only one way to find out." She tried to calm me down, but my racing thoughts outran her as I bumped my leg when I sat down on the now closed toilet seat.
"Where are we going to find a pregnancy test at this hour?" I exclaimed, my eyes on the four am clock. My vision was in a haze from the countless times I tried to sleep, my knees felt weak and my stomach was in knots.
"Hold on, I think I might have one." She told me before she dashed out to get it.
It was weird that she even had one. She wouldn't have met someone else in her life to even have that.
I freaked out some more on the thought of Maddox. It was bad enough that we were in a dangerous place right now, we weren't going to risk a baby too. My hands circled my flat stomach as another ache was felt when I hunched over with a wince.
Victoria came back inside and told me to pee on this stick.
"I really want to know why do you have a pregnancy test, but I don't have time right now." I groaned out and she rolled her eyes at me.
"Just take the damn test."
I laughed painfully before she closed the door and I opened the toilet lid to pee on the stick that was going to determine our future.
After the duty had been done and I flushed the toilet, the stick was nestled between the tissues on the side of the sink. I hoped the news didn't reach to Maddox, but I was sure one of the agents spotted Victoria.
Oh, God, why now?
I was flushed, in dire need of water and big chunks of chocolate. That was exactly what I did as Victoria waited for the test result.
The mouth watering chocolate cake gazed back at me, willing me to eat it. I cut a piece on my plate and devoured it in minutes, the chocolate fudge on both sides of my mouth as I swallowed down the last bite, moaning at the satisfaction with eyes closed.
That was until I heard a creaking sound from behind the kitchen. It was Maddox's good plan to load guns in the last drawers as I got myself one.
The backdoor opened slightly and there was nothing until the figure with a black mask showed, he thought nobody was in the kitchen but I was right behind the front door as he tried to get outside of the kitchen, my leg automatically kicked the back of his knee making him buckle with a gun behind his head as he facepalmed my clean floor.
"Don't you learn some manners back home?" I scolded before loading my gun, the click sound made him pause his movements.
"Please don't kill me." The symbol on his neck indicated he was a member of Dalton.
"Easy for you to say."
My pink feathery slipper was placed on the middle of his back. The gun had a silencer on, meaning Victoria and her son wouldn't hear as I pressed on the trigger and he went down in an instant.
I brought the mop and a bucket of water before to clean the mess I made before Victoria came to check on me. The lanky guy was easy for me to roll him on the side as I began my housewife chores. Maddox would be proud of me for killing the guy.
We were definitely not normal wife and husband material.
And I liked to keep that way.
I called one of the agents to remove the body without making any noise once the blood was clean. They were shocked that they didn't see the guy.
My body tingled in exhaustion from the energy of the previous situation as I came back to Victoria, who sat on the bed with the tissue that held the stick.
"Shoot the news." I mumbled with eyes closed and a grunt.
"You're pregnant."
"You have got to be kidding me. Please tell that this is a dream." I groaned out as I laid my head on the door.
My back hurt and she helped me as I covered myself with my fuzzy comforter and exhaled when my body relaxed into sleep.
I was out like a light as soon as Victoria closed the lights, but the thought of breaking the news to Maddox irked me because we weren't ready and we had a fatal mission to finish.
