47| I Need You

Oneshot idea by my dear Swaniwrites🦋

It was an offday like a normal day for both Abhyudaya and Gautami. They had decided to spend time together watching a movie and so, she came ro his house and now, the pair is in the living room while trying to decide on a movie to watch where their normal conversation soon takes a heated and escalating turn.

Gautami: Abhi, I just think we should watch something we both enjoy and not just action movies all the time. Let us watch something different today.

Abhyudaya: But I thought you liked action movies too. You never said anything of not having action movies as your preference before.

Gautami: It is not about that Abhyudaya. It is about considering each other's preferences. I do like action movies but not all the time, you know? Sometimes it just even feels like you do not really listen to me nor understand what I am trying to say.

Abhyudaya: I do listen and understand! You are making a big deal out of nothing Gautami.

Gautami (feeling frustrated): This is exactly what I am talking about. This defensive and immature nature of yours! You never take these things seriously!

She storms out, leaving Abhyudaya alone and shocked by her words.

Unlike previous times, Abhyudaya does not cry. Instead, he sits quietly, trying to figure out by reflecting on Gautami's words.

Abhyudaya: Immature? Defensive?....Is that really what I am? But maybe she is right. She has seen and got to know more than I have and I think I need to change. It is the right time.

He spends the next few days reading books on relationships, talking to his friends for advice and reflecting on his actions.

Some days later, Abhyudaya thought of visiting Gautami. He stood nervously outside her house, holding a bouquet of flowers for her. Taking a deep breath calming himself down, he knocks on the door.

Gautami (with surprise): Abhyudaya? What are you doing here?

Abhyudaya: Gautami, I need to talk to you. Let me please.

She steps aside, allowing him to enter. They sit on the couch, the tense and awkward tension between them hanging heavy in the air.

Abhyudaya: I am sorry Gautami. You are right. You have been right all this time. I have been immature and have not taken your feelings into account. These days of being apart from you made me realize now how much I have hurt you and I want to change. For you, for us, for our better tomorrow than the present.

Gautami: Abhyudaya, I....did not expect this at all but I....

Abhyudaya (takes her hand in his, holding it gently while looking at her with love and affection): I love you Gautami. And because I love you, I need to be better. I have been working on myself these past few days, trying to understand where I have been going wrong and I hope that it soon works out because I do want to hurt you anymore.

Gautami (her voice softer now): I can see that very much my Abhi. It means a lot to me that you have taken this seriously and I am very happy and proud of you🥺💗

Abhyudaya looks into her eyes, taking her hands in his. "I promise to listen to you more, to understand you properly without jumping to conclusions or being overly defensive anymore, to be more considerate and to grow with you. I do not want to lose you Gautami. You are not only my love but my lifeline❤"

Gautami (her eyes well up in happiness): Thank you Abhyudaya. I know how much you love me and how much I mean to you. I love you too and you mean the world to me. Seeing you taking responsibility for us and growing yourself for not just me but for yourself means everything to me.

Abhyudaya's eyes fill up with tears and he wraps his arms around her, engulfing her into a tight and warm embrace, holding her close. He kisses Gautami on the forehead and she closes her eyes, feeling the warmth and sincerity in his gesture.

Gautami: Let us work on this together. In us. If you and I believe in us and this bond, then nothing can pull us apart from each other, no matter what happens❤

Abhyudaya (smiles): Let us do so together❤

They sit together, feeling a renewed sense of hope and an addition of commitment in their relationship, knowing that they can overcome anything as long as they have each other and their hands in one another's tenderness and affection.
