Jimin wasn’t sure if he was imagining things, but lately, he always felt that Taehyung was avoiding him.
They still spent late nights together at the lab, and Taehyung had also begun driving Jimin home, but he didn’t speak as much as before, and even when he did speak, his words were much more pleasant to the ear.
It was as if the events of that night had never happened at all.
But what exactly had happened that night? As he pondered this very question, Jimin’s eyes drilled holes in the table. It felt like a lot had happened, but when he tried his best to recall—nothing came to mind. Nothing but Taehyung going into rut, Taehyung using a suppressant, and Taehyung stopping his rut.
With racing thoughts, Jimin shot a glance at Taehyung, who was sitting right across from him, and wondered if the constant use of suppressants would harm his body.
By chance, Taehyung was also looking his way, but the moment their gazes collided, Taehyung immediately averted his sight, his features cold and distant, as if he hadn’t been looking at Jimin in the first place.
Taehyung left for his office immediately after the meeting at Hyungjin’s headquarters concluded. Jimin hadn’t gone far when Yoongi stopped him.
Following his promotion, Jimin was required to attend a weekly meeting at HQ, so there had been plenty of opportunities to interact with Yoongi. Despite the fact that Yoongi’s rivalry with Taehyung was clear as day to everyone in the company, Jimin had no ill will toward him.
But that wasn’t entirely correct either—the two actually got along quite well.
Yoongi invited Jimin out for coffee.
Jimin looked at the time and turned him down. “I’ve got to get back to the lab.”
They entered the elevator shoulder to shoulder and were the only ones inside. As Jimin watched the floor number indicator descend, Yoongi asked him, “Did you and hyung have a fight?”
“Huh? No way. Why would you say that?”
Yoongi smiled. “I’m especially sensitive to these things, you know. Probably because I’m an omega.”
When they stepped out of the elevator into the ground floor lobby, Jimin caught sight of a young man who looked exactly like Yoongi lingering near the entrance.
Jimin was taken aback at first, but soon realised that the young man was Yoongi’s twin brother. Yoongi had a beta twin brother; Jimin couldn’t quite recall his name and only knew that he rarely showed up Yoongi. This happened to Jimin’s first encounter with him in person.
Yoongi came to a halt, tugged Jimin’s arm, and said, “My hyung’s a really conservative guy when it comes to his emotions.”
Jimin gave him a blank look.
“He’ll deliberately distance himself from people emotionally,” said Yoongi, “but not necessarily because he dislikes that person,” Yoongi explained somewhat hurriedly. “I’m going out with my twin. Catch you later!”
Yoongi let go of his hand and jogged towards his twin brother.
Although the young man standing at the entrance bore an uncanny resemblance to Yoongi, their demeanors were vastly different, the former more cautious and timid. When he noticed Jimin staring at him, he only gave him a small nod. He appeared to be mustering up a smile, but in the end the corner of his lips merely twitched.
Jimin thought nothing of it and rushed back to the lab.
Taehyung was apparently preoccupied with something all day long. He had yet to appear as the hour approached midnight and Jimin was the only one left in the lab.
