☀️ Jenna Walker - July 12, 2015

"It was a few years ago," he starts, his fingers never ceasing the action of twirling a strand of my hair, "a few months before Niall and I had moved to New York."

After a handful of episodes, Zayn grasped the remote from the coffee table and flicked the television off, saying that he wanted to tell me something. Honestly, I was a tad nervous because the look in his eyes seemed distant - and we'd been talking throughout watching so it must be important since he turned off the television. So I shifted a bit so I could see his face better, his arm never unwrapping itself from around my shoulders.

And once he cleared his throat, he started telling me about his ex.

"We'd been together for almost a year but we never stopped the honeymoon phase - Niall would always gag when he was around us." Zayn emits a chuckle, his eyes set on the cushion between us. "I was in love with Amy... but when I told her about my dream to go to New York and start a business, things were rocky. We had this big fight and that was when she told me."

His eyes meet my own before he smiles sadly. I shift closer out of curiosity.

"She was into Niall," he admits before rolling his eyes and letting them settle back on the cushion. "Of course - Niall is the ladies' man. I should've seen the signs. We were nauseating around Niall mostly, and she was asking all the time if we could hang out with him." He lets out a sigh. "I'm stupid."

"That's not true," I disagree  taking grasp of his chin to make him look up at me. "And she missed out on such an amazing guy."

He stares at me for a moment before licking his lips.

"Seriously! I haven't even known you long but you are sweet, funny, adorable and just - one of the most amazing guys I've met since moving to New York. Granted, most people are very rude here but still." When I was talking to him, I didn't realize how close we had gotten to each other. I wasn't sure who was the one moving towards the other but I wasn't complaining. I look down at his lips before meeting his eyes. "Not to mention you're British and very attractive."

"Wow, is that all I am to you? British and attractive?"

"Pretty much." I shrug.

"And to think..." Zayn chuckles before leaning back, my hand dropping onto my lap.

"What?" My eyebrows raise but Zayn just shakes his head and turns his attention back to the cushion. I purse my lips and watch as Zayn retracts his arm from around my shoulders, immediately feeling cold from the loss of warmth. I bit my lip before nudging him. "I also said you were sweet, funny and adorable."

"Yes, because that heals my hurt."

"Zayn."

"Jenna."

I nudge him again. "What happened to calling me 'Tennessee'? I thought it was cute."

"Yeah, and I thought you were cute before you objectified me," he says with a frown before meeting my eyes. He blushes when he sees my own. "I, uh - "

"You think I'm cute?" I ask, a smile forming on my face. Zayn blushes further. "You do!" He mutters something under his breath and looks away. I lean over and press a kiss to his cheek, not helping the brightness of his face. "I think you're pretty cute too."

We sit in silence for a few moments, just looking at each other, before Zayn breaks us both out of the trance we seem to have been in.

"Go on a date with me."

My smile turns from amused to stunned. (Is there even a stunned smile?) I blink at him. "What?"

"Will you go on a date with me, Tennessee?"

"Uh, yeah - sure - totally."

(A/N): aw, poor Zaynie got played by Amy who was into  Mr. Lucky Charms. But aside from that, they've got a date coming up! And was that an almost kiss I detect? Hmmm...
