The sun dipped low on the horizon as Ryker made his way towards the dojo, his steps echoing on the quiet streets. The events of the past weeks weighed heavily on his mind, but he was determined not to let fear dictate his actions.

As he approached a dimly lit alley, a figure emerged from the shadows, blocking his path. Ryker’s senses sharpened, a flicker of unease darting through him. “Can I help you?”

The stranger stepped closer, their face obscured by a hooded jacket. “You’re Ryker Lawrence,” they stated flatly.

Ryker tensed, his pulse quickening. “Who wants to know?”

Before he could react, the stranger lunged forward, a flash of metal glinting in their hand. Ryker instinctively dodged, adrenaline flooding his veins as he stumbled back. “What do you want?”

The attacker remained silent, their intent clear as they advanced again, their movements swift and calculated. Ryker’s mind raced, his training kicking in as he deflected another blow, his heart pounding in his chest.

In a desperate bid for escape, Ryker managed to break free, darting down the alley with his pursuer hot on his heels. The sound of footsteps echoed behind him, driving him forward as he raced towards the safety of the dojo.

As he reached the dojo’s entrance, relief washed over him. He pounded on the door, his breath coming in ragged gasps. “Let me in!”

Johnny opened the door, his expression shifting from confusion to alarm as he saw Ryker’s disheveled state. “Ryker, what happened?”

Ryker stumbled inside, his chest heaving as he tried to catch his breath. “I… I was attacked.”

Johnny’s jaw clenched with fury as he scanned the street outside, but the attacker had vanished into the night. “Are you hurt?”

Ryker shook his head, adrenaline still coursing through him. “No, I’m okay. They didn’t… they didn’t get me.”

Johnny placed a comforting hand on Ryker’s shoulder, his voice filled with concern. “We need to call the police.”

Ryker nodded, his mind racing with unanswered questions. Who had attacked him, and why? Was it related to Eric’s accident, or was it something more sinister?

As they waited for the police to arrive, Ryker recounted the events to Johnny, his voice steady despite the lingering fear. “They knew my name, Dad. They were after me.”

Johnny’s brow furrowed with worry. “We’ll figure this out, Ryker. But for now, you need to rest.”

Ryker nodded, grateful for his father’s support. As he sat in the quiet of the dojo, the weight of the evening’s events settled over him. He couldn’t shake the feeling that their troubles were far from over, that danger lurked in the shadows, waiting to strike again.

But amidst the uncertainty, one thing remained clear—no matter what challenges they faced, they would face them together, united by their bond as a family.
